HID headlights

Recommended Posts

Hey Dan - no not the LED's - I have this kit (installing this weekend)  HID Xenon bulbs with ballasts etc..  http://www.xenondepot.com/H11-HID-Kit-Xtreme-HID-p/xt-h11.htm

The LED's i got are for the parking light/DRL it's a 194/W5W wedge bulb.  Also from Philips - I got the CANbus error canceller as well, but I will see if I actually need it before I open the package...I'm happier knowing that the majority of th eparts are Philips and not some cheap crap.  I've used XD before and was very happy with their product.  And for $200 to upgrade to legit (minus the auto leveling) HID's is a no brainer.

So.... the install didn't go quite as planned.  front bumper removed, test fit and test light up everything...looks great.  Start working on the wire routing to keep it super clean and unnoticeable to the untrained eye.   Get eerything buttoned back up (with the exception of the PIAA Ion Crystal Fog bulbs - wont be in until Tuesday)  Get everything back together - start the car and absolutely nothing...no parking lights, no HID's.  Car off - everything works fine - start car - no joy.  Waiting to heear back from Xenon Depot to see what the possible solutions are - I have the CANbus error eliminators installed - but I got nothing...so now I have no car to drive at night until I figure it out and either uninstall and live with the halogens, or fix it or replace the headlights with a full blown HID set up from the Mondeo Europe.

Johnny, that stinks! Good luck on finding a resolution =\ Is it possible you pinched a wire on re-assembly?

Those are interesting. Is it just replace the bulbs and you have LED lights? OH I see, these are for FOG lights only. Well when they get the headlights working, doing both would be great. Would love the lower energy usage of LED.

So after some trouble shooting with xenon depot... Needed to reverse the polarity on the CANBus adapters, one light on...more troubleshooting other can bus mustve popped when hooked up the first time...warranty replacement on way. Should be good then...except for the fogs...will pull bumper again to add the new fogs...PIAA ion crystal yellow.

Johnnymo, are you inferring the Mondeo HID/LED Headlamp units are available...that would be awesome!

So - HID lights are working - just not my LED parking lights...I mean they are working - just not the way they should as DRL's.  Not a big deal, since I ordered my Mondeo conversions.

HotLap - ordered from theses guys  thelightingfirm.net  lots of positive feedback on 2gfusions.net on them and the stuff they make looks killer.  hopefully get them soon - was hoping for a Christmas present but looks like it'll be in Jan beffore they arrive.

Did you tell them you wanted to run the LED strip as DRL?

I got mine from them and they ran a extra wire to connect to fuse box to run as DRL

I spoke with Chandler - the '15's are a little different, they are already setup to run the parking light as a DRL via the left side dash screen menu.  Hoping i'm not the guinea pig, but I am expecting it should work straight up plug and play to the factory harness.
