In morning when I turn on the car, I see 21 miles range on EV mode. Then I immediately turn off the climate and switch to EV later mode. But in less than 2 miles of driving, I see the range drops from 21 to 18. The weather here in the SF Bay area is pretty mild. The outside temperature is in the 50s in the morning. If the battery remained at 100% charge, the battery would be unable to accept regenerated energy from the brakes and surplus energy generated by the engine.
