Well, we finally made the plunge.  Drove 2 hours from BIrmingham (still no electric certified dealers in the largest metro area in Alabama - hello FORD!) and dealt with a very friendly and very easy to do business with dealership in the NW corner of the state - Long Lewis Ford in the Shoals area (birthplace of the blues and famous for pop music recording studios beginning in the '60s to today).  They were very kind and helpful and we got a great 36 month lease deal incorporating all available ford retail AND RCL lease rebates and only a $60 doc fee add-on.  They are even going to deliver my wife's new car tomorrow (2 hours south to BIrmingham all detailed and with paperwork ready to finalize).  I asked them to set to EV later for the drive, so we will still have full HV battery when they get here.

 

Our choice: 2014 Ruby Red Energi Titanium with black interior, moonroof, navigation and driver assist package.  I ordered a Clipper Creek LCS-25 L2 EVSE and will install in our garage as soon as it comes in.  My wife has located 6 parking spaces with 110V outlets in a rarely used area of the employee parking deck at the hospital where she works.  While not as ideal as having L2 EVSE at the hospital, she should be able to get fully re-charged in the 6 hours or so she is at work.  We can't wait to get it tomorrow!  Thanks to everyone here for posting and helping me learn so much about this awesome vehicle while researching our purchase.

The battery will not be full when the car arrives.  When EV Later is selected the car reserves about 92% of the current battery charge.  This happens every time the car is put into run mode.  On a long trip with many stops the battery charge will drop about 8% at each stop.

 

I recommend that your wife get permission to use those outlets if they are not clearly marked as being for EV charging.

Congrats on your purchase.... but I don't know that it's all Ford's issue on EV-certified dealers as each dealer is an independent entity and I guess most in that area don't think it's worth it to install the chargers and train the salesmen/techs/etc or whatever.  However Ford could always offer incentives as they do for car purchases in order to make sure they have a certified dealer within a x mile radius, don't know if they do that.

 

If you have more questions search around the forum as the common stuff has been covered (in some cases several times) and if you don't see it addressed - fire away!

I don't think that's correct.  EV Later reserves a maximum of ~95% of a full battery charge.  If you start a trip below 95%, it should remain at the same approximate value throughout the trip.

That's only true if you dont turn the car off.  Every time you turn the car off and then restart you have to reselect EV later at which point it reserves 95% of whatever the current battery charge is.  I've done it many times on long trips.

Well, an older man drove it down.  Sweet guy, but didn't know anything about the car :-).  Even though I mentioned to everyone I talked to to make sure they set it for EV later, they didn't.  He bragged that for the whole 130 mile trip he only had to add about 2 gallons to top it off when he got here....and the HV battery was drained.  Regardless, I didn't want to complain and we plugged it in and let it charge for a couple hours.  My wife went to get ice cream with the kids after it got to 30% charge (about 8 miles away) leaving with a 7 mile range and averaging 416 mpg, with the a/c on (it was 90 degrees here today).  Pretty impressive so far!  Can't wait to get my LCS-25 EVSE and charge "Auburn fast" (some of you may get that reference).  Love, love love this car so far!  Wish I could afford a second one for me :-)

Well, my wife completed her first commute to work at the hospital yesterday and below are the results of her return trip.  Her one way commute is 21 miles and 7 of those miles are interstate.  She was using a/c as it was 90+ degrees here, and basically made each trip virtually all electric.  I will say that this car is going to EXCEED our expectations!
