Kind of excited about this.  It's the 2013 model in White Platinum and with the driver assist package.  On the road price for $31,500.

Anybody any advice I have to do or have to learn myself now I'm start driving part electric, part hybrid?

Have been reading a lot about it but drove only electric on my test drive.

Thx a lot

There is a driving coach built in to the car in the left screen of your instrument cluster.  Abuse that. :)  It'll get you accelerating more gently, increasing your braking distance for more regen, and showing you how driving faster impacts your range.

As far as other more manual things you can do as far as controlling when you want to drive electric vs the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine), use the ICE at speeds over 50, especially in non-stop and go.  Speeds under that for city travel, stop and go, etc, use the battery.  The EV button will allow you to tell the car how you want to drive... automatic (car decides, but will usually just drain the battery except for heavy acceleration), EV Now (battery mode), and EV later (saves whatever pack power you have and will drive in hybrid mode instead).

I read in your other thread that you'll be going through mountains, so use the hill assist feature too (button your shifter).  It will maintain your speed while going downhill and will put power back in to your battery pack

Once you get more accustomed to how the car behaves, you'll be able to finesse it to get the best range out of your ride.

2 things I want to mention

1) I picked up my car yesterday and I was disappointed the dealer didn't give me a full battery charge :( (they did activate the daytime running lights for free).  I was kind of very careful on my way home, got stuck in traffic around Baltimore and I was surprised to see that after a trip of 2,5 hours and roughly 125 miles I got an average of 45 MPG what was not bad at all.  Now a quick question, if I'm not mistaken, with complete death battery you run pure hybrid.  If i choose EV Later then the car will not use any electric stored in the battery so my MPG will probably lower in that case.

I ask this question because when I drive to work I'm fine with depleting my battery in the first part (mountains) and switch over to Hybrid once on the highway but on my way back I want to save the battery power for when I'm back in the mountains (where the car would use the most gas).

Can anybody confirm my thought here?

EV Now ----->   Electric engine (118 hp)

EV Later ----->  Gas engine (141 hp)

EV Auto ----->   Electric and Gas engine (188 hp)

Once I understand this I can figure out the best scheme for my use.

2) I just saw that Ford had to lower their EPA ratings again today.  OK this gives us some money back ($850 in my case) but at the other hand I'm a bit disappointed in Ford, especially the car is already 2 years around and they had to lower it already once.  Your thought?

Read all our posts on other threads about this subject, Ford should NOT have lowered the EPA rating for the FFE!  Most of us here already EXCEED the old ratings.  All Ford has done is cost themselves alot of money (both in refund checks and lost future sales) and killed their credibility in the green car market with this stupid decision.  Drive your FFE and enjoy it and brag to everyone you meet.

You want to reserve EV mode for the portions of your commute that uses the least power.  You want to use the ICE for climbing hills and higher speeds.  EV mode is significantly more efficient than using the ICE at slower speeds (lower power requirements).  EV mode loses some of of that advantage at higher speeds (but it is still far more efficient).  The goal is to keep the ICE off for as long as possible.

The car will combine the power from the ICE and the electric motor in both Auto and EV later modes.  You will get a maximum of 188 hp.  In EV now mode, the ICE will not be used, so you are limited to the lower hp of the electric motor.

This is the first time that the EPA number has been changed for the Ford Fusion Energi.

The number was previously lowered for the Ford C-MAX Energi,
