I have always been a fan of these:

with the Kevlar belting it really helps the durability from damage caused by pointy rocks....

kidding aside, define fragile and versatile? Are you having a lot of leaks due to nails/other road debris? Versatile as in good in the snow as well? I haven't had any issues with the current tires, and can't really imagine any normal passenger car being more durable i.e. 6 ply tires

I had to get flat bed towed to a dealer and buy a new tire on Saturday after a significant and unfortunately placed pothole tore the sidewall... it's the only problem I've had in 3,750 miles, but the tires on my old Mariner would have brushed off the scrape without issue.  I got the car in March, so I haven't really figured out what if anything to do about winter.

Whats the draw of the Clipper Creek over the Bosch?

If its Price, Bosch is cheaper: http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-EL-51245-Electric-Vehicle-Charging/dp/B00DMG104E/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1403794786&sr=8-13&keywords=bosch+charger

If cord length is the issue you can get the bigger  one (still only 18 vs the 25):

http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-EL-51253-Electric-Vehicle-Charging/dp/B00FM7B1AO/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1403794867&sr=8-12&keywords=bosch+charger

and then you are doing some "future proofing" by having 30 amp capability for a different car.

Don't get the 12 foot cord, that's too short.  The Clipper Creek comes with a 25 foot cord and a separate holster.  I have the unit mounted on the wall where it's out of the way, and the holster near the car's charge port.

If anyone needs the separate holster Clipper Creek sells it for $19, I think.
