Yet Another X-Plan Question

According to the FordPartner.com web site you can use the X-Plan to purchase a car by ordering one or by buying one off the dealer's lot.  Is it common for dealers to refuse to give X-Plan pricing for ordered cars.  I ran into a dealer here in Las Vegas that will only sell a car that is on the lot for X-Plan price.

At the dealer I just dealt with this past weekend in Kirkland, WA, I was told that their is no restriction on using the X-Plan pricing for either on the lot or ordering vehicles.  I was told that Costco Auto program was only available for off the lot purchases...which is what we did.  The Costco program was better than the X-plan price by a little more than $1,000 and we were able to get what we wanted for the most part off the lot.  Only have had the Fusion Energi Titanium since Sunday, but I am really impressed with this vehicle.  Good luck!

Things are different at different dealers. When I shopping for my Energi in February of 2013, the dealer where I ended up buying the car did not want to sell the cars on the lot at X-Price, I had to order one in order to be able to use the X-Price. I guess it was because of allocation at that time, and theythought they could sell the lot cars at a premium... evidently they were compeltely wrong!

As apm wrote, it is up to the dealer. If the dealer participates, then they must follow the rules of the plan but I do not know of any thing that binds them to participate.

Also, unless you are buying the new model year you can probably do better than xplan (if you are looking at a 2014 off the lot) then ordering a 2015 model.

Actually I just got a hold of the Costco Ford dealer here in Las Vegas. He told me the Costco price is $700 over invoice.  While, according to the https://www.fordpartner.com/partnerweb/jsp/howitworks/fordpartner_rules.htm web site, the X-Plan price should be Dealer Invoice - (0.4% * Dealer Invoice) + Administration Fee, which I believe is $125.  So it looks like X-Plan should be better price than Costco.  This dealer will also order the car with X-Plan pricing unlike the other dealer I talked to.
