iPhone 6 ios 8 does not support messaging

I connected my iPhone 6 with ios8 to sync yesterday, however when I click on messaging, I get the "your phone does not support messages".  Occasionally with my previous iphone4 and ios 7, I would receive that message and the way to fix it was to "delete the device" and reconnect the phone.  That technique does not work with this phone.

Has anyone been able to get their "messaging; text to voice" to work with iPhone 6 and ios 8?  If so, what's the trick?

Thanks,

Steve

Yep,

It took alot of fiddling with and reading posts to get the most out of the Energi.

We just switched from Android to IPhone on Sept 19, and have now have another toy to learn. Gotta say the 6 is way better than my Galaxy S, even though I feel like I'm trying to learn a new language.

Hey folks!

We haven't had a chance to officially test the new iPhone 6 yet, but so far I've been hearing some positive feedback from my other forums about iOS 8. If you've updated software on an iPhone that was already paired, you may need to delete the phone and re-pair it before it will function properly again. If you continue to experience issues, give these troubleshooting tips a try: http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/troubleshooting-sync-myford-touch

and make sure the phone is set up correctly to allow text messaging: http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/how-to-allow-ios-text-messaging-sync-myford-touch

If you get stuck, let me know what's happening and I'll provide recommendations  :).

Just updated to iPhone 6 and so far it seems to work better than my iPhone 5 for messages. Could never figure out why it worked some times and not others, only had this phone for a few days though.

A FFH owner discovered and posted on that Forum that if you're receiving iMessages sent to your e-mail address the MFT system doesn't read them. It only reads text messages and iMessages sent to your phone number.

My ios8 iphone6 and works pretty well. The messages show up if I'm stopped, and I can listen to them if I'm driving. A couple issues I'm having this are:

Occasionally the phone won't sync to the car. Intermittent at this point.

I can dial from the dash. When I click place call it does nothing.

Hey Dag,

If the phone isn't automatically connecting to your system, try holding the POWER and HOME buttons on the phone until the Apple logo appears. Sometimes this soft reset will improve the connection to MyFord Touch and resolve that issue.

I'm taking off for the night, but when I return on Sunday I'll see if I can replicate the calling concern. Are you running iOS 8.0.2?

I'm glad to hear it, meyersnole!

I also noticed that my right screen on the console shows "unknown caller", yet the MFT screen shows the name of my contact that I'm conversing with correctly.  This is definitely different than before because the right screen always showed the contact name.

Hi SteveEnergi,

This feature is dependent on the device, so the update may have altered the way your iPhone interacts with MyFord Touch. I'll check this out on Sunday as well and get back to you.

This is the way this has always worked for me... iPhone 5 on sprint for both iOS6 and 7... assuming my iPhone 6 with iOS 8 will be the same. Do not pay attention to it anymore...

If I'm listening to music on the iphone and make/receive a call. After I end it, the music wont play unless I go on the phone and hit the play button. Its been going on since IOS 8 and now have 8.02 and nothing changed

Hey lonzo71,

This may have something to do with the software downloaded to your phone. When the phone isn't connected to SYNC, try playing your music and making a call. Once you hang up, does the music automatically play again? Do you only have this issue when your connected to SYNC?
