EV Battery Miles Gauge

Purchased my new 2013 Fusion Energi last summer and love it so far. I reset the lifetime fuel economy after purchasing the car. My normal commute is well within the range of the EV. At one point before my first longer trip, I had driven almost 3 months without needing to add gas, and the car was approaching 250 mpg! It has since dropped to around 90 mpg.

During the first few months, the EV battery gauge would peak at around 20-22 miles. As I entered the winter months, the engine would run more often (I assume because of the heater). But, I've noticed the full EV charge has dropped significantly as well. There are days, now, when the gauge will peak at 14-16 mile range after a full charge. Is this normal?
