Fusion Energi had a fault while charging - at dealer for 48 days and counting...

Quick warning.  Purchased new 2015 Ford Fusion Energi mid-Oct.  After 27 days driving I had a fault when charging error message.  What you may not know is as soon as your EV battery bank is depleted & is not accepting a charge, you can not drive your vehicle.  It will not move even though it has an ICE.

Took it to dealer and it took 20 days for the car to be fixed.  Multiple calls between dealer & Ford engineers.  Replaced just about every part imaginable.  Was happy when I finally got car back.

28 days later, same charge fault.  Now they've had the car for 4 more weeks and still don't have a fix.

In total I've owned the car for 103 days.

55 days the car worked

48 days the car has been sitting at the dealer trying to be repaired.

I don't know what the resolution will be nor the timing, but if you have this issue be ready for a long frustrating road.  Ford may have built a great car, but I'd question their ability to diagnose and service the charging system.

If I try hard, I can almost remember what my car looked like...

I want to loop your customer service manager in on this for additional assistance. Please send me a private message with your VIN, mileage, best daytime phone, full name, and dealer name/location.

Contact Meagan with Ford (User ID FordService) to see if she can assist you.

Thanks!

Wow!  It is definitely time for divine intervention.

In the mean time has your dealer offered you a loaner vehicle at their expense?  My dealer had my Energi for 4 days to perform a bunch of TSB's and offered to pay for a loaner.

Good luck.  You are in good hands with Meagan!!

Ummmm, that better not even be a QUESTION!  I would certainly hope that if you own a vehicle under warranty that FORD is paying for a LOANER!!!!!!!!

Yeah, your patience has far exceeded anything I could muster. After 2 weeks I'd start checking with the regional service manager every other day. If it truely has been that long with no success, you may want to look up the lemon law for your state and be aware of the requirements. 20 + 28 days seems like a LONG time for a new vehicle without a working car, longer than you've owned it.

I, too, hope you've gotten a sweet loaner for that amount of time.

Wow, that's awful luck and sorry you are having to deal with this.  I'd start to take the lemon law route and have Ford replace your brand new FFE with a similar car.  Not acceptable to have had a new car for such a short period of time and 50% in the shop.  Ford will do the right thing but you sometimes have to get a bit aggressive.  Megan will help you as well.

Good luck, this is a worry of mine, having an issue with such advanced technology and having to rely on a local dealer to diagnose/repair.  Ford should consider regional "Advanced Technology Repair Centers" for their advanced technology vehicles...could serve to advise/train the local dealers and actually repair a vehicle if it's been at the dealer for over 2 weeks with no resolution in sight....
