Hello,

I have been going back and forth on buying one for awhile. I currently have a 2012 Camry Hybrid XLE and i am looking to get rid of due to seat comfort issues. I took a FFET fully loaded with everything you can get on it today and they are asking $29,900 for it. It has 13k miles on it i was going to try to get the dealer down to 27,900 just wondering how everones Fusion is holding up i had 2 fords in the past and both have been really bad just don't want the same thing to happen. Also cross shopping between the 2015 Acura TLX and 2015 Avalon Hybrid Touring just a FYI thanks

I drove a TL previously (2006) and cross shopped my Fusion with the Avalon hybrid. The Toyota was nice but I thought the Ford just felt more comfortable. I also liked all the technology in this car.

I got one of the first Fusion Energi's off the assembly line and have not had any major issues. Minor problems include some buggy software in the My Ford Touch system (still liked it better than the system in the Toyota) and a bit of fit and finish. Two years into this car, I would still buy the Ford again (although I would have waited a year given they dropped the price $4,000 the next model year. Also would have been nice to have the heated steering wheel.

I also have a fully loaded titanium. I don't use the self park, but like the front sensors that that feature gives you. I will also find it difficult to ever buy a car that does not have adaptive cruise, one of the best features on the car.

Have you looked at leftover new ones? We bought a leftover 2013 in late 2014 and paid less than $29,900 after the tax credit for a brand new car. Our 2013 FFE Titanium has every option except Navigation. Just like others, the only issues have been software bugs which are fixed by having the dealer update the appropriate module to the latest calibration.

I have a 2013 FFE Titanium and would definitely buy again, although I paid a premium for getting one of the first ones. Now, 2 years later, after 11.200 miles, it has been wonderful. I had a sun-visor fall out of its socket but that's the only problem! Got 1395 miles out of the last tank after 2 months and I still had 2+ gallons in the tank. Lifetime Average right now is over 101MPG. That will go down once it gets hot and I'm using the A/C full blast. Had first oil change at 10k+ but could have waited longer. I average 35 miles every time I drive it. 85% of those miles are using no gas. Since you are already familiar with getting the best mileage out of a hybrid, you will do very well with the FFE.

It still rides very comfortably.

I just bought (in January 2015) a 2014 Fusion Energy Titanium for $27,750 which had 10,000 miles on it from a dealer.  It has everything except the heated steering wheel option - and I love it!  My only other Ford was a 1990 Thunderbird which  I put 170,000 trouble-free miles on.  I hope this one lasts as long!  :-)

I really love the car - my previous car was a 2010 Prius.  Aside from trunk space, the Fusion blows it away in every category.  I currently live 2 miles away from work; the Prius ICE ALWAYS turned on in cold weather, so my gas mileage was around 30MPG (winter only).  Not so in the Fusion - and I can usually plug in and get free electrons at work! :-)

I almost bought a Camry Hybrid LXE.  I'm very happy with my 2013 FFET, it is very comfortable and almost drives itself. I don't live in a plug in friendly city so you should consider this along with your daily commute.

My FFET is fully loaded, I got a great deal because my car was a demo collecting dust with a couple minor issues that have been cleared up.  It had 213 miles but I only paid 32K (sticker +45K) last July and just got 7K back from the tax credit. I have driven 6K miles and my daily commute is within range so I rarely use the ICE.  I only keep about a quarter tank of gas in my FFET and buy about 3 gallons of gas every 4-6 weeks.

Good luck!

Wow s a bunch of happy owners.

i love my car besides the hard seats and i would love to find a left over one for cheap however in my area there are barely any new ones here in Cleveland, OH that are fully loaded like this one.

If i bought this i was going to buy the extended warranty with it because i have not had the best of luck with Ford products so i am a bit hesitant to pull the trigger considering i have never had any mechanical issues with my Toyota my daily commute is anywhere from 45 miles to 80 miles a day and only can charge at home on a 110v i guess i could put in a 220v i just don't know if the cost would be worth it.

How many of you are charging only once a day and driving these kinds of distances. also when i drove one i only drove in hybrid mode the dealer had depleted the battery and was getting 45MPG which was really nice i just want to make sure this car will hold up for about 200k miles.....

Thanks everyone

How did you get a $7k tax credit? The tax credit for the Energi is $4007 and the maximum credit for installing an EVSE is $1000.

You could buy one that's not in Cleveland. We got our Energi from a dealer about 225 miles away. We did all the negotiating via e-mail (to have a paper trail) and then just went to the dealer to sign the papers and swap vehicles.

As far as the extended warranty, you can wait until the 3/36 warranty is almost expired before buying the ESP. The cost increases slightly, but not much. This way you can see how many issues you have in the first 36 months or 36k miles to decide if you're going to keep the car long-term and if you think the warranty would be a smart investment. Also, don't buy the ESP from your dealer. Buy it online from Anderson Koch Ford or Flood Ford. They sell them at a minimal margin and save you money.

Installing a 240V charger at home will never pay for itself in savings on gas/electricity, it's about convenience. With 240V you can preheat the car in the winter and have it nice & warm before you get in to drive. Preheating doesn't work on 120V because it can't supply enough wattage. With 240V you can recharge quickly while at home to complete more trips with less gas.

Speed, wind & cold hurt MPG. We can get 45-50 MPG in the summer with the HVB depleted but only 35-42 MPG in the winter in the same scenario due to cold & wind.

I started another thread about high mileage Gen II fusion hybrids on this site; there are a number of them here in San Francisco that have 150,000+ miles.  So far, drivers say that there are no major mechanical or battery problems.  It sounds like you will be doing a lot of highway driving, which is a lot easier on the car than all city.

There are a lot more high mileage C-max's floating around, and there have not been any reliability or durability problems reported there, either.

If you're concerned about the 'nickel and dime' things, get a high mileage factory warranty from Flood Ford.  They're really cheap and can be purchased any time that the car is still covered by the original warranty.  I Ford will insure the car for up to 8 years and 125,000 miles.  It's VERY cheap and the platinum level coverage is very comprehensive.

Awesome!

It's nice to see that these cars are going for that long similar to Toyota cars it's very reassuring. If the numbers work out i will be purchasing the car then of course i will be buying an extended warranty i don't have the best luck with cars and little annoying things breaking on me for no reason........... had some of that with my Camry but never with my Corolla weird.....

Questions about the extended warranty:

1) Can someone give us a dollar amount? What is "really cheap"?

2) Can they be transferred to the 2nd owner of my car?

I know I can call/email Flood Ford but I don't want to be hassled with unwanted phone calls and/or emails.

I love my 2013 FFET but was hoping to get one of the proposed 200+mile EVs in maybe 3-5 years. Or maybe I'll win the Lottery and get a Tesla.

Thanks.

@Hybirdbear, 4K from federal and 3K from Louisiana's alterative fuel tax credit. I will install a 240V charger this year and get 10% back from the state next year.

Awesome! I wish we had a state incentive in MN. Is the Louisiana one a credit or a rebate?

Are you getting that much more on a trade in than if you went by CarMax and got an offer?  Don't they all basically give you wholesale?

In some states a trade-in reduces your sales tax to pay on the new car. Selling to CarMax (or selling privately) would not allow you to reduce your sales tax. When we sold our 2006 Honda Accord Hybrid to buy the 2013 FFH in Fall 2012 we determined that selling privately would need to net us $1500-2000 more than a trade-in to be worth it. We listed the car privately on CarSoup and Craigslist for months and no one was willing to pay that much more than our written trade-in offer so we just traded it in.

You can't claim that kind of deduction in Oregon (at least that I know about), no idea about Ohio.

My experience if you are willing to take trade value on a car (so 18.5k in your case) putting it on Craigs List for that price should net a sale within a day or so.

But maybe cars are cheaper in Ohio? But remember the thousands you would save buying from this guy, so really you could sell for 17k and still come out ahead.

;-)
