Parking Energi for two or three weeks outside

Greetings all,

Enjoying the heck out of my new-to-me 2013 Ti Energi.

I work a rotational job and need to park my Energi at an airport for three weeks outdoors in the sun, in a hot climate (Louisiana). After studying an engineering guide published by panasonic on prismatic lithium ion batteries, it looks like it would be best to discharge the batteries to a low SoC to ensure that no residual capacity loss occurs through high temperature self-discharge.

I also realize there are various issues with the cars running down their 12V standby battery. I have a PWM regulated solar battery charger if anyone thinks this storage period will be an issue.

Is there a deep sleep mode I can put the car in (I will disable the wifi on MFT)? I am missing my owners manual but am researching this online. Would appreciate any other advice in this area and will update everyone.

The owners manual recommends that if the vehicle is to be stored for 30 days or longer to store the HVB at 60%.  2 or 3 weeks may be short of this but it certainly doesn't hurt to follow this advice for shorter storage periods.  It's not as though the chemical reaction occurring within the battery suddenly changes between the 21 day and 30 day marks.

My Cmax is parked now at home and I'm in San Diego for almost 3 weeks.  I charged the HVB to 51% and unplugged it the night before I left.  Should be OK I didn't disconnect the 12v battery I expect it should be able to last 3 weeks.  Will see what happens.  I do have it in the garage so its out of the sun.  Maybe you can park in the garage in the airport as opposed to an open lot.  Sometimes it costs more maybe to park in the garage, but might be worth it if its going to be really hot.  To say the least at least crack all 4 windows if it has to be outside in the sun.

Just don't go onto MFM and ping the vehicle's status at regular intervals, I think murphy observed that when the MFM refreshes the car status it spikes the 12V battery a good bit (don't remember how much), so if you want to help make sure your 12V is still OK when you get back, don't inadvertently hammer on it while you're gone.
