bdginmo Posted February 13, 2016 at 05:29 AM Report Share Posted February 13, 2016 at 05:29 AM http://driving.ca/ford/fusion-plug-in-hybrid/auto-news/news/heres-how-high-gas-needs-to-be-for-hybrids-to-pay-off Once again: 1) They compare the generously equipped Hybrid/Energi to the base gasoline model.2) They completely ignore the $4000 tax credit for the Energi. It's the same glaring mistakes over and over again. I realize the $4000 tax credit is not applicable in Canada, but considering they mention the cost of fuel in terms of US$/gallon they are clearly pandering to US consumers as well. openair Posted February 14, 2016 at 12:47 AM Report Share Posted February 14, 2016 at 12:47 AM Those Ontario incentives were just updated to those amounts Feb 10th. Prior to that the cap was $8500. There also appears to be some errors in the new incentives, with Bev's like the focus and leaf not receiving the extra $3000 for having a larger battery. The i3 and volt both receive all or some of this despite having smaller batteries. If I had wait until after Nov 2015 I would have received an extra ~$1900 for my energi. dlb92 Posted February 15, 2016 at 11:09 PM Report Share Posted February 15, 2016 at 11:09 PM (edited) The first couple years I saved around $1400 in gasoline costs. Since gas is less than $1.6 I stopped bothering to charge my car since it is right at the break even point. I still average 40-53 miles per gallon just in hybrid mode. What other full size 4000 pound luxury car can get anywhere near that? Regards to my purchase price it may have been around $41,000 after taxes but then I got $4000 tax credit, a $1000 "income tax" refund/write off, an $850 check from ford for false efficiency numbers, and a $750 rebate from a coupon I got a couple days after I purchased the car, minus $1400 in saved gasoline costs.
