Hello all!

Old member, new car.

Its been a long time since I have posted with being busy with work full time and nursing school full time.

Previously I had a 2013 Ford Fusion Energi Titanium that I had leased with the plan on purchasing it (I only leased to take advantage of the tax credit immediately). Well my lease was up in November and when I went to purchase it, my contract buyout price was $27,786 and my bank stated that it was only worth $21,500 and thats the maximum they would finance it for. I was over my mileage of course so either way I was going to be out some money. Ford wouldn't work with me on lowering the contract price so I said screw it, you can have the car back and Ill get a new one.

Heres the old one, removed the vinyl roof and vinyl off the grille and left the 5% tint.

My account on credit.ford.com shows that the car went off to auction and sold to CarMax for $17,600. Really frustrating in my opinion that Ford could have just sold it to me instead of fighting the contract price but thats not how it works. Here it is on CarMax if anyone is interested! 2013 Ford Fusion Energi

I worked it out with the dealer that when my new car arrived from Kansas to Oklahoma City they would swap out the factory wheels from the new car so I didn't have to deal with the wear and tear fees on the lease on top of finding the factory wheels I had sold. So someone is going to get a good deal on a used car with new wheels, new tires, and be unique because those wheels are new for the 2015+ Fusions.

Here is the new one the night I picked it up:

Its the exact same car, except its a 2015, Tuxedo Black Metallic, with 3 new added features which are cooled seats, heated steering wheel, and rear inflatable seatbelts.

Well I have been working on my own set of headlights (I have no idea what I am doing) and I thought I would make a progress post. Its taking me FOREVER because of nursing school and work and now I am waiting on a part from overseas. Heres the list of items I bought for the build:

First I baked open the headlights following the direction of this thread.

Then I took apart the headlight following the direction of this thread.

I lightly sanded down each piece with a red scotch guard pad and painted them black. After drying, I attached the LED tube by drilling small holes and tying it with beading wire. Assembled the HID projector and re-assembled the headlight housing. I have only completed one headlight because the inverter I received for the DRL tube was bad. But here is a pic of a finished one that is still open.

Heres a clip to show how the blinker works.

  • 4 weeks later...

The upgrades look really nice.  I was going to get the 3M shield and didn't.  Now I have a new car with a nice little dent from a truck that spit a rock at me.  I'm not sure the 3M would have helped the dent, but it would have saved the paint chip.  Now I'm looking at how to repair it.  It's small, but the car is so new.

Please post the progress on the lights when they are installed.
