My14Energi Posted July 31, 2016 at 06:55 PM Report Share Posted July 31, 2016 at 06:55 PM Is this the newest gen oem charger? I saw AG as most recent, this is AH.
cwstnsko Posted August 2, 2016 at 02:37 PM Report Share Posted August 2, 2016 at 02:37 PM It might be a newer version yet than the AG version, but since it has the blinking "Check Outlet" option, it is newer than mid-2014 MY. Based on the production date, it appears it was made in 2016.
rpreuss Posted August 3, 2016 at 08:22 PM Report Share Posted August 3, 2016 at 08:22 PM (edited) That is the charger that came with my 2017 Energi Titanium. Came off the line 3 weeks ago. My14Energi Posted August 4, 2016 at 11:54 PM Author Report Share Posted August 4, 2016 at 11:54 PM I bought my '14 a couple weeks ago and the charger was missing from the trunk so they ran out to another car and grabbed its charger. Must have been a new cars charger.
dperreno Posted August 12, 2016 at 06:59 PM Report Share Posted August 12, 2016 at 06:59 PM The last letter of the suffix is incremented with each design change, so AH is more recent than AG.

Pretty sure mine is a -AJ and I've had it for months, maybe even a year!
bwheetley Posted September 12, 2016 at 09:09 PM Report Share Posted September 12, 2016 at 09:09 PM My original OEM charger got fried by a lightening strike that was close to the house. I was lucky it didn't flow in to the car and do something to the car's inverter or something. Anyway, I ended up getting a replacement 120v 12Amp from ClipperCreek as it was much less costly than getting it from Ford. ($390 ClipperCreek vs. $600 Ford) So far it's doing great. I have added a surge suppressor between the wall outlet and the charger, but it keeps melting the surge suppressor even though it's rated at 15 Amps continuous. I guess I need to try a different brand surge suppressor or maybe try to find a 20 Amp suppressor.

If that's true it would explain why they have nearly identical designs. That doesn't surprise me about the surge protector. This seems to be a common problem with electrical products. They say they're rated for 15A circuits, but a lot seem to fail with this constant 12A load. I had a Kill-a-watt meter that suffered the same fate. Let us know if you find a quality product.
