Triple horn beep on pressing start button

Starting two days ago our 2017 Fusion Energi beeps it's horn rapidly 3 times the second we press the "start" button when the car is off. When we press the button to turn off the car there isn't any beeping. I tried Ford Owner's Chat and they had no idea and told me to ask a dealer.

Does anyone know what 3 horn beeps on "start" means? Other than the annoying 3 beeps, everything else seems normal and no "check engine" type light is lit that I know of but we've only had the car a few weeks so an answerr may be staring me in the face. By the way this is our third Fusion Hybrid and the first two were wonderful and we never had a problem worse than a slow leak on a tire one time.

The car will beep if you get out of the driver's seat while it is still running.  Maybe the sensor that detects weight on the driver's seat isn't working.

went around the car and opened and slammed all the doors and trunk iid and checked the hood and the beeps are still there,

I can bounce on it and see if anything happens. My wife is driving it at the moment but I'll try bouncing in the seat as soon as she gets back.

By the way is there a place in the owners manual that mentions 3 beeps as even being a signal? And shouldn't there be something on one of the instrument displays that refers to them?

  • 2 weeks later...

My 2013 only does the beeping thing if the key fob leaves the car not if the driver gets out of the seat. If I get out but leave the key fob in the cup holder or something like that it doesn't beep. So that would make me think something related to the key fob but it also needs to talk to the key fob to let you start the car so that doesn't make much sense. Does it do it with both key fobs?
