SYNC 3.7 update to 3.8

I just recently bought a 2015 Fusion Energi. It has the SYNC GEN2 3.7 version installed. If I go to the SYNC update website it tells me for some reason that I have the latest update installed, which is 3.7? Is there another way to get the 3.8 update?

This is an ongoing problem with 3.8.  Instead of fixing the website they suggested going to your dealer to have it installed.  There used to be a link on the forum somewhere to download the file.  I don't remember where it was but it may still exist.

I owned a 2013 FFH and was having trouble installing Sync 3.8. At that time the FFH forum was very prolific in solving problems with the new model 2013 FFH.

IraF posted this link, it just might work for you, it worked for me with my 2013 FFH. If this link works, read the whole thread.

Oops, this link works but the file IraF posted isn't there any more.

I'm looking around in my files, haven't found it yet.

I believe the file is in post #150  http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/10558-version-38-available/page-8

I remember that I could not get the Ford site to work for my 2013 FFE but had a 2014 Escape with the same equipment.  Downloaded the file for the 2014 and used it for the 2013 FFE.  To report the update to Ford had to change some info in the xml file--the vin--since it is vehicle specific.  Reporting to Ford is not necessary and I don't remember changing the file except to change the vin of the vehicle.

Report to Ford here:  https://owner.ford.com/tools/account/how-tos/keep-your-sync-up-to-date/report-software-version.html?step=prepare-sa#/prepare

P.S.  Checked my USB file and the only difference is that I have an xml file that is not in Ira's file.  You get the xml file when downloading the file from Ford.  I updated the 2013 first which required a vin change in the name of the xml file.  After reporting to Ford I changed the vin in the xml file back to the Escape vin and updated the Escape and reported to Ford.

The xml file appears to only be needed for reporting to Ford.

IMPORTANT:  From post #9 by jeff_h below:  Use Internet Explorer when reporting to Ford.  Firefox doesn't seem to eork.

Thank you Eric4539 for the files and the instructions. Installed it yesterday. Worked like a charm.

The only thing that I couldn't get to work was uploading the .xml file to the Ford website to report the latest update. Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think this is really that important.

Thanks for all the help everybody.

Does your download contain an .xml file?  If so, does the title contain a vin number?  If it does and that vin is not yours, just change the vin to yours and report to Ford.

My .xml file is named "Sync_XR340VDX_(MY VIN NUMBER).xml"

If you have the .xml file, change the .xml file name to include your vin and then report to Ford.

P.S.  When you download from Ford it generates an .xml file that contains the vin of the vehicle in the file name.  Ira removed his .xml file since it only applied to his vehicle.  I changed the name of my 2014 Escape .xml file to include the vin of my 2013 FFE and then reported the renamed .xml file to Ford.  Worked for me.

Yes, I do have the .xml file with my VIN number. What didn't work was the upload on the website.

I used the link to "Report" my update. Just like it tells you to on the website I "Selected" the .xml file with my VIN number on the USB drive. But then nothing happens afterwards. I tried it several times.

I opened the "SyncMyRide" folder, clicked on the .xml file and then clicked "open". But nothing happens after that?

This rings a bell... I updated to 3.8 about 6 months ago or so... I think I encountered the same thing when using Firefox, but then it worked OK using either IE or Chrome (don't remember which).  So try another browser and see if that helps.
