I do have a 14-50 box installed so my parents could plug their motorhome in when they visited. I was looking to get a cord that could plug into that box. After a google search I found Clipper Creek and their model that has the 14-50 plug the LCS-20P (can't paste the link) that has 16 amp charging capability and after looking through threads here another owner using a EVI model and I like the PA-62 or the PA-63. The latter because it has all the plugs I would ever need since sometimes I camp and they have 30amp and 50amp boxes or some smaller places only have the 30amp plug. A rep from Clipper Creek said our cars can only take a max of 15 amps so with either model is it just plug and play or will I have to adjust charge current either from the cord/box or the car itself to get shorter charge times and/or protect the cars components? murphy Posted December 17, 2016 at 07:05 PM Report Share Posted December 17, 2016 at 07:05 PM The car charges at 240 volts 16 amps. That is 3840 volt-amps. The supplied EVSE is 120 volts at 12 amps. That is 1440 volt-amps. At 240 volts you get 2.67 times the VA. It's a lot faster. Mine takes 2 hours from empty to full.It's plug and play. The J-1772 handshake has the EVSE and the car agree on what power will be used. A bigger EVSE is fine. I charge mine with an EVSE capable of 40 amps.
