murphy Posted January 27, 2017 at 04:32 PM Report Share Posted January 27, 2017 at 04:32 PM I just discovered that with the new modem they fixed the WiFi password problem that limited the length to 10 characters. It will now accept up to 63 characters which is the standard. There is still no use for it since it only works in my garage which has its own WiFi access point. murphy Posted January 28, 2017 at 11:10 AM Author Report Share Posted January 28, 2017 at 11:10 AM So will it use wifi for the MFM features? No.It's was designed to use either WiFi or a USB cell phone service adapter to provide WiFi in the car for the passengers. The car could be tethered to a cell phone via WiFi to provide WiFi for the passengers (kids) devices during a trip.

Wouldn't it be easier to just have the passengers tether directly to my phone? That's what we do now with my kid's tablet on long road trips. murphy Posted January 28, 2017 at 02:22 PM Author Report Share Posted January 28, 2017 at 02:22 PM I think they expected people to get a USB cell network adapter to provide in car WiFi. To my knowledge no one ever found a USB adapter that worked. It will be interesting to see if there are any changes given this announcement. https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2017/01/27/ford-vehicle-owners-upgrade-2010-2016-vehicles-with-connectivity-features.html
