Bought Used Energi, MyFordMobile Help

Bought a used Energi. Downloaded the MyFordMobile app. Registered in my name and the Vin number of the car with no problem. When I open up the app, I can see the vehicle I have added but there is no data in vehicle management at all nor is there anything to push to retrieve data. The only button is to cancel confirmation. What am I doing wrong? Is there something I need to do in the actual car to make it transmit data? Do I have to register for sink for any of this to work?

Ok, so where do I get the error code? This was my local dealership this morning that said it would not be replaced until I had an error code showing that the old one was not working.

By the way, what is Sync good for? I registered online, but what's that get me? Does it work without a new modem or does the same issue exist?

There have been a lot of issues with the new modem, so maybe they are waiting for a code.  If you know it is working, then don't replace, but if your modem isn't communication because there is no 2G in your area then tell them to look at the following FSA.

  • FSA Title: EMBEDDED MODEM REPLACEMENT
  • Field Service Action Number: 15N04

Somewhere in the center screen is the number of the modem.  If it doesn't start with the letter T, it is a 2G modem and will never work.

Have the dealer look up your car by VIN in their system.  If it has the old modem the 15N04 recall will be listed for the car.  If the previous owner had it replaced the recall will not be there.

... and for the OP, if your local dealer cannot check if your VIN still needs the 15N04 campaign or checks and finds that the VIN still needs it but says they needs something else, I suggest finding another dealer and then calling Ford Customer Service and telling them that the service department at <your dealer name here> needs some coaching.  Ford can then pass that on to a regional rep that should be able to interface with the dealer and improve their process.

  • 2 weeks later...

Sync question.... every time it detects my phone, it immediately starts playing whatever podcast or whatever radio station was last stopped. Is there anyway to prevent this?

Edit: found how to turn off auto play.

Having my Energi just short of 2 weeks, I highly recommend you read the 400+ manual as it's amazing what the features are of the car. And that is one of the reasons that I joined this forum as a short cut to others who have experienced the same as you. My wife cannot understand why I keep making trips at 10:30 or 11pm at night outside. It's another tweak to utilize the service or a tweak to improve a setting. Fortunately those late night tweak trips have lessened.
