ZenPerspective Posted June 19, 2018 at 03:14 PM Report Share Posted June 19, 2018 at 03:14 PM I know many plug in EVs have the ability to lock the plug when plugged into your vehicle and it is charging. From what I can tell the Ford Energis do not have this ability. Mine is a 2017 Fusion Energi Platinum. Not sure why Ford would not have this ability as it would be a simple solenoid and notch in the car end of the plug. Am I mistaken and the Ford Energis DO have the ability to lock the charger? Timewellspent Posted June 19, 2018 at 05:19 PM Report Share Posted June 19, 2018 at 05:19 PM There is a spot on the EVSE to put a padlock on. You just need to make sure it will fit the hole. By putting the lock on the button can't be pressed to release the EVSE from the charging port.
jdbob Posted June 19, 2018 at 05:56 PM Report Share Posted June 19, 2018 at 05:56 PM It's a design problem with the Type 1 (J-1772) plug. Other plugs such as Tesla and Type 2 (Mennekes) have a notch in the casing for locking by the car.
