Red warning triangle

While driving on the highway with the cruise set the familiar dash chime went off and a red lettered message with a red triangle came on saying "Pull over safely and shut engine down", or something similar to that. The a/c went warm vut the car was still drivable. I went about another 1/2 mile to a safe place thinking i would need a tow. After pulling over and shutting it down for about 30 seconds it started back up with the triangle gone and drove fine. No explanation other than a possible glitch? Anyone experience a red triangle warning?

I had that before many times when I had a Ford Focus Electric and mine meant Stop Safety Now and it’s killed the battery and everything and left me stuck many times. It was towed to the dealer several times and they never got to the bottom of it and finally took the car back and gave me full credit for the MSRP for the car.

It has to do with some kind of battery warning voltage I think.

My 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid recently had this red triangle error and lost power at around 60mph. I pulled over to the emergency lane and restarted the car, and it ran about 20 miles like nothing happened. The next day I drove about 40 miles without any problem, but upon returning home the car lost power 3 time during rush hour that started at about 12 miles driving. It was a terrifying ordeal during rush hour.

I had brought the car to a Ford dealership and at first could not find any errors, lastly was told that it was about the battery, paid $395.

The very same day I drove to work it was fine, returning to a 17 mile drive to my parents home, the car lost power 3 times in traffic.

Terrifying, concerning, frustrating, traumatizing for my children and the whole family.

The message prompts "Stop Safely Now". What is this?!

Please help.

Sounds similar to an issue I had on my Escape Hybrid.  That was a cooling pump issue.  It was very intermittent, probably depending on outside temp and load on the engine causing it to overheat.  I have not heard of this on the Energi, but it is possible.  Maybe the battery is not cooling properly, were you in EV mode each time, or hybrid mode or a mix?
