Lizard77 Posted July 30, 2018 at 06:32 PM Report Share Posted July 30, 2018 at 06:32 PM I really hope someone can help me...Last night I parked my car in the garage, and it was fine. I even went downstairs about an hour later to get something from the trunk and it was still fine. This morning I went down to my car and the doors wouldn’t open with my fob, or the code on the drivers door, so I opened it with the key inside the fob. Once I got it open there were no lights or anything at all and pushing the button to start the engine did nothing. So I got my jumper cable box battery thing and plug that into the car battery, and the lights came on! Then I tried to start the car, and got about a dozen warning indications on the panel but the car wouldn’t start. So I got a friends car to come give me a boost thinking the battery and the charger wasn’t sufficient, it’s been plugged in for about half an hour now and it still won’t start
murphy Posted July 30, 2018 at 09:07 PM Report Share Posted July 30, 2018 at 09:07 PM (edited) Your 12 volt battery has died. It's over 5 years old at this point. If one of the cells has shorted there is no recovery for that battery. The easiest way to restore the car to operation is to install a new 12 volt battery. It is not done through the access door. The fiber panel must be removed to get access to the battery. Is the HVB charged? If not, once the 12 volt battery is installed the HVB may need to be charged a bit. The HVB is what supplies the energy to rotate the engine to start it. Without 12 volts available the HVB is disconnected from the car by two contactors.
