How to keep your Fusion Energi looking new

This first tip works best if you already have a garage. If you do not have a garage contact a contractor and have one added to your home immediately.

Tip 1: First thing you need to do is purchase a car cover before you Energi arrives. Once your new car arrives park it away from everything so that nothing falls or lands on it. Then drain the fluids and disconnect the batteries. This should help preserve the vehicle for years to come.

Tip 2: Get a good resolution camera and take a picture of your vehicle. Then go down to a local store that can have your vehicles picture made into a poster. This will keep your vehicle looking sharp for years to come. You can even take several photos and have it made into a calendar!

Sorry guys, saw the thread and couldn't resist. Have a great time with your new vehicle, it will not be new for long.

My dealer told me about an enviromental protection package $549 ($399 Exterior only / $250 underbody only): It adds teflon protection to the clearcoat (5yr Warranty) / a leather protector (5yr Warranty) / a stain resistant chemical to the carpet to protect against stains (5yr) / underboby protection (lifetime). It keeps your vehicle looking great with a nice shine to the exterior and I was told you do not wax the vehicle. Tar and road grime is supposed to come off easy when you use it. The new mirror look sounds good to me. They also give you a bottle to apply to the paint every so often. Does anyone have any inputs on this for me? I don't want to spend money on something I dont need!

I had that done to mine and it is a synthetic coating applied to the exterior clear coat. It looks great (see my pictures in the Gallery) and bugs do come off easily with just a wet rag. .

I am having an invisible bra (3M) applied to the front bumper, hood, head lights and mirrors and they will need to do a alcohol rub to remove the synthetic coating so the bra will stick to the clear coat.

I forgot to mention that while they say you don't ever have to wax the car once the synthetic is applied, I have read on a detailer forum that it is recommended to wax the car with a high quality, Carnuba only, wax like once a year to achieve an even deeper and wetter looking finish.

To keep mine clean, I first did a complete rinse, wash, rinse, clay bar (w lots of Lube), wash, rinse, dry. Than I sealed it with JetSeal 109 and waxed it w a good wax.

Now I often foam wash, pressure rinse  and micro towel dry, finishing it a detailing spray like V07. V07 is really a Sealant w UV protection, but works great as an after wash or touch up detail spray. It is even great on the windows, keeps them looking clean and new with some water repellent, but not greasy. I have found with a good base, it is easy to keep it looking new.
