Available EV range...how high can it go?

Made a round trip to my office and back with climate control off (beautiful 73' day here in NC), avoiding Interstate and with heavy use of the ecco adaptive cruise control, I arrived back home with and estimated 7 miles left in EV mode. (total trip was 21.4). I really didn't alter my driving habits, too much other than trying to milk the regen breaks and seeing how many 100% returns I could get. I'm guessing I could get close to 30 miles on a charge.

On a normal trip there and back I usually get switched over to hybrid mode with about 2-3 miles to go. Then again I've only had the car for one week and still have a lot of the driving habits formed by my former Mustang GT.

I wish "my for mobile" would log trip data, I'd love to track improvements, etc in driving/economy.

Wow, that is impressive. I don't think I could get anywhere close to 30 miles. The other day I did roll into my garage with 2 miles on the range (most ever) traveling about 21 miles. I think the part of my drive where I get up to 60 mph kills some of my range. I normally drive with the eco cruise too and my coaching screens are very good. The only thing that is not near the top is cruising, and that is probably just due to speed.

How fast do you think you were going most of the trip? Wow, 30 miles!

Never over 45, and 80% of trip is between 30-35, and it has several red lights, actually doesn't take much longer than my interstate route, I think I'll do it more often!

Today I got 23.1 coming into DC, with 3-4 left to spare. I turned the A/C compressor off, and this did make a difference. It netted me 2-3 miles. This is real world driving with some hypermiling (about 4 of the 23.1 was regen miles). I was going 55-60 on some stretches, and 35-40 on other stop and go stretches. I really pay attention to coasting down hills. And the weather has been great!

One of the things I noticed last night is my garage was quite warm (after a day in the low 90's) and when the car was charging, the fans were going full tilt. I'm hoping when I get my Level 2 Charging Station installed to start the charging at 3 in the morning when the garage has cooled down a bit.

Anyone concerned about charging their car in a very hot garage during the summer? I'm also getting a long enough cord with my Level 2 Unit (25 feet) to be able to run this out to the driveway and charge outside.

Well my car had its break in period or probably "learned" my route. I'm at 24-27 miles every morning now and I figured out when to save the battery. I drive 19 miles 1 way every day (one 230v fill up). I have 2 monster hills about 1 mile long ea. I turn on the motor on both hills and my car has zero miles left on it when I pull in the garage. YEA!!!   Filled the car up for the first time last week and noticed I drove 856 miles on 12 gallons of gasoline. I know that it cost about .50 a night to "fill her up" with electric juice, but thats just awesome, right???

I live in Florida, dead flat, and drive 30-35 mph up and down A1A.

Unplugging in the morning I have seen 35 miles range often, and as high as 36.

Temps in the 70s, Climate Control off.

I get about 6.5 miles per kWh or

use about 154 Wh per mile (thank you Murphy)

on a good day.

Electric mode is so nice!
