Eric4539 Posted July 9, 2013 at 10:00 PM Report Share Posted July 9, 2013 at 10:00 PM The ACC is one of the best features for me. I bought my car in San Diego and I drove home on I-5 and then 99. I had the opportunity to play with the ACC for 5 hours. If traffic is moving at 75 I set it at 2 bars. That is enough distance to comfortably cruise along. If traffic slows to 55 and I happen to be in a long parade, I shorten the distance to 1 bar which Ford describes as the most aggressive setting. There will always be a bozo that thinks he/she can over take everyone in the right lane and squeeze between you and the car in front. I notice with the ACC set on 2 bars there is ample room for this to occur. With the ACC set on 1 bar it doesn't happen very often. Once a guy sped past a bunch of cars and squeezed in front of me. This caused the red alert to go off and the car actually applied the brakes. So the collision warning also works very well! If it is rush hour and traffic is crawling along I still use the ACC but I am much more aware of others trying to squeeze in. Depending on my mood I can either let them cut in or make them wait and squeeze in front of someone else. :) I won't buy another car without this feature. Zman11 Posted July 9, 2013 at 11:31 PM Report Share Posted July 9, 2013 at 11:31 PM Same here. Drove to California for 850miles straight and ACC was a lifesaver. One thing I am curious about is when ACC has to brake does it turn on the brake lights?

Russael Posted July 14, 2013 at 01:36 PM Report Share Posted July 14, 2013 at 01:36 PM I'd have to agree, even though it's impossible to actually see it unless it's dark or if you have someone following you - I noticed yesterday when ACC slowed me down on an already slow road thinking something was in front of me (there was a cyclist on the bike path, but the road was curving left, putting him right in front of the car), I noticed instead of just getting the arrow that indicates power flow direction (over the battery), I was getting the regen swirly, which to me would indicate that it is braking and it should illuminate the brake lights. Pretty sweet.
FusionDad Posted August 29, 2013 at 01:30 AM Report Share Posted August 29, 2013 at 01:30 AM (edited) I will NEVER buy another car without ACC. It is absolutely addictive. And I do have to remind myself that my wife's Prius doesn't have it... But her next car sure will. Our Prius has it. 2012 Plug-in. ...and I agree it is a sweet function.
