About Scooter80

  1. Both models you have cited come with the car-side (wired per SAE J1772 spec) plug. One of them also has a plug for the house-side that you would plug into an electric dryer-type 220v outlet. The other model wires direct to your house wiring, no plug needed and it's enclosure is not exterior rated. Again, both should have a plug that goes into the car. If not, maybe you got someone's return. Someone who ripped off wherever you bought it from.
  2. Just to help you in your learning, the pre-conditioning will improve your range (not directly, but) by reducing the need for power during the initial few minutes of your trip getting the cabin to your set temp. Instead of using battery power to do this, it uses your house electricity to do so. So your car's fan and air should only need to MAINTAIN the temperature, thereby reducing the drain on the battery and improving EV mielage. As for the driver alertness, it is directly related to steering wheel input tied in to the secondary factor, the lane keeping camera, even the finest of adjustments you make to keep close to the center of the lane should prevent the system alerting you. Take your hands off to do make-up or read the paper and it will let you know you did.
  3. I think I must be having an issue with my autolamp sensor. It is okay for a bit after I pull out of the garage i.e. lights are off as they should be. But then after our first errand and having parked in a parking lot in the stifling heat and bright sun, the autolamps came on with the car. Could not get them to turn off except by turning the dial to off. Continued throughout the day of errands. Wife (whom normally drives the car daily) has reported the problem persists, though also sometimes does not present itself at all. When the issue is present it requires you to turn off the lights manually since it will dramatically reduce the visibility of the screens when the lights are on mid-day! I am thinking the heat on the expansive dash might be affecting the light sensor in the little bubble there. Anyone else? Might be a service visit soon to address this, auto window, and the "trunk laziness" TSB.
  4. Working yet? I don't know what to tell you other than this is what worked for me.
  5. Looking up in that grille and previous experience with similar high-end features in various vehicles in the last decade. Since Ford's documentation for its consumers is quite dumbed-down lately, it's more educated guessing than fact. I probably should have prefaced my post with that.
  6. It appears to be in the grille area in the panel with the overhead lights and moonroof controls (if so equipped). The smaller outboard ones are indeed noise-canceling related.
  7. New iOS update today! Very cool history/trends and last trip info! Coming along nicely.
  8. Yes, no spare. You get a small compressor with an integrated can of fix-a-flat. There is a whole procedure laid out in the manual.
  9. State Farm here too. First day I called it in, she told me I had a hybrid. I told her it was the plug-in version. She said she didn't see that option, but this should be fine. Got my cards in the mail. Then the crash. Body shop took all the info and sent me on my way. They called shortly thereafter and asked me to verify the VIN. Did so. They said they had it right, but their system couldn't find the car so it wouldn't let them estimate. They worked some magic and estimated by hand I guess, since it got done, but I had a re al uh-oh moment when they said they couldn't do it. Long story short, I'm insured, but I don't know if it is for the right car yet, or if I'm paying the right amount. Oh well, it's up to State Farm to get the details ironed out. Bottom line is they paid for the repairs, so I'm happy.
  10. I think the big thing you are referring to as far as premium fuels lasting longer, at least here in the Midwest, is their ethanol content. Some premium fuels contain no ethanol, while most others and all lower grades contain some and are up to 10% ethanol. Since ethanol attracts water, any fuel containing it will go bad far sooner than a premium that does not. Water-logged gas will also cause premature wear and ethanol is known to eat away o-rings and gaskets faster than non-ethanol fuels. I feel silly filling my gas can for the mower with premium, but its either that or deal with the additives that counteract this attraction. I've not done the math, but I think a gallon of premium is cheaper and easier than buying and adding the additives since I only use one or two gallons a year in the mower and snowblower. Now, that would probably change on a full tank of gas for the Fusion, but since my wife has a long commute with it, we fuel it about once every two weeks, so I'm not concerned with gas going bad in it, so it gets regular. I don't think there is any reason to use a premium fuel in a vehicle that only needs regular, other than to mitigate staling due to ethanol content and (to a lesser extent) volatility of lesser grades.
  11. I've been through the wash a few times (bad water here that makes it nearly impossible to hand-wash), and I can say for sure you will not have any locking/unlocking issues while your remote is in the vehicle with you. And my experience (judging by when my passengers reach the car before me and try to open the vehicle) has been that the car will lock out any attempts to open the car for a short period of time if an attempt is made without the remote.
  12. It does seem strange that the car could cause two units to fail, but it also seems strange that two units would fail!! I like the idea of heading to your nearest EV certified Ford dealer and testing their unit. May I also say that it is outstanding that Leviton is concerned enough to fly a tech out to examine the issue!! After so many customer service horror stories (and my personal thought that customer service no longer exists) it is awesome that they are taking the time, money and effort to not just send out another unit, but to try to determine why they are failing!! Well done Leviton! Good luck with the issue. I hope they can help. Maybe you have an update by now?
  13. Ahhhh, that makes sense. It appears mine is just not as well fit as it used to be and as Larry's looks. Thanks for the help all!! Here's mine for reference. Alot of filler dust too! I won't be using this bodyshop again. Should have learned the first time. They did a bit of hail damage on my Audi and the seatbelt didn't work afterwards, requiring a return trip as well. Ugh!
