Ben Bruce Posted September 26, 2014 at 05:13 PM Report Share Posted September 26, 2014 at 05:13 PM I have been using ACC every time I drive my car. Today on my normal commute to work it stopped working. Every time I tried to turn it on, I would get a message that said ACC is not available at this time. Sucked having to use the gas pedal for 20+ miles in traffic. Made feel like I was driving an “average car” or something. J Ben
Eric4539 Posted September 26, 2014 at 05:35 PM Report Share Posted September 26, 2014 at 05:35 PM Funny about having to use the gas pedal!! The only time my ACC stopped working was in a torrential rain. I assume the sensor was obscured by all the rain and road spray from the cars in front of me. You can turn on your regular cruse control which just isn't the same, but I did that just so I didn't have to keep my foot on the pedal. Check the sensor on the front of the car to be sure you don't have any dirt blocking it. If your car is clean then It could be another issue. If it was raining then it probably was due to that. I drove home from San Francisco International Airport yesterday in rain for almost 1 1/2 hours and my ACC never stopped working. I was worried that it would because there were several areas where it was raining very hard with a lot of road spray around me.
Ben Bruce Posted September 26, 2014 at 11:01 PM Author Report Share Posted September 26, 2014 at 11:01 PM I drove it at lunch time and it worked fine. No rain today and the car is relatively clean. I will keep an eye on it and see if it repeats. How do you turn on the "regular cruise control"? Ben PSIt was nice to get a little rain yesterday, wasn't it. murphy Posted September 26, 2014 at 11:21 PM Report Share Posted September 26, 2014 at 11:21 PM How do you turn on the "regular cruise control"? It's an option in the left setup screens.
shaggy314 Posted September 29, 2014 at 07:45 PM Report Share Posted September 29, 2014 at 07:45 PM (edited) I've had mine quit twice, both in heavy rain. I was able to disable it using the left control screen and enable 'deadly cruise control mode' for the rest of the trip. It takes SEVERAL minutes of no rain at highway speeds to clear the sensor for ACC again and I wasn't going to go the rest of the way without ANY cruise control... ;-) #firstworldproblems Edited September 29, 2014 at 07:46 PM by shaggy314 Hybridbear
Ben Bruce Posted September 29, 2014 at 09:32 PM Author Report Share Posted September 29, 2014 at 09:32 PM Thanks for the tips. I will have to try standard Cruise next time this happens. Ben
