ACC with Stop-and Go

This sounds like its too good to be true.  Does this really work?  Anyone tried it in a traffic jam?

Ford Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go

When Fusion is in cruise mode, a radar sensor detects slowing traffic ahead and can automatically brake and accelerate to keep you moving with the pace of traffic10. With the addition of stop-and-go, the feature can bring your vehicle to a complete stop in stopped traffic and restart it as traffic begins to move.

I have been shopping around based on safety features and driver assist technologies.  The Fusion Titanium and Platinum blow everything else away (even other Ford's I looked at do not have "Stop-and-Go" nor the ability to stop the car (if you don't).  It's mind boggling.

From 2017 Fusions with Adaptive Cruise Control have the stop and go function so using ACC during stop and go traffic would be terrific.  Just like a Tesla!  If Ford was like Tesla, I would think they could update the prior model years with stop and go that have ACC.  But apparently not.  In my opinion, Ford's Driver Assist options are actually really good.

Works like a champ, test. Drive one

I would love to hear from someone who actually sat in a traffic jam and it helped them.  I hate traffic jams.

There's a YouTube video that shows exactly what you're asking. Me personally, love it. It will take you to a complete stop AND start again (under 3 seconds stopped) and even at that a tap on the accelerator, or,the resume button....starts it all up again....Lane Assist, you can keep that.

Just to follow up..  I did get a Fusion with the Ford ACC with Stop-and Go (2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid Platinum).  I LOVE the Stop and Go feature.   Yes.. it is unnerving the first few times, but combined with the adaptive cruise, my 55 mile, twice a day commute across the metro area (St. Louis), is relatively stress free.  The "sling shot" effect is the best.

thinkcoopers outcome is killing me however.

Thanks. That sounds like slow stop-and-go like in heavy stalled traffic won't put on the brake lights, which would be problematic.

My brake lights come on all the time in heavy stalled traffic, every time it moves forward and then stops they come on. I've seen the reflection in the bumper of the car behind me.

If what is happening doesn't feel right, take over.  You are supposed to be in control of the car no matter what driver assists are available.

A car crossing in front of you is not seen at all by the MobilEye chip in my 2013.  A car that is in front of you and already stopped may not be seen in time, if at all, to stop before hitting it.  Don't waste precious stopping time waiting for the car to figure it out because by the time it does it may be too late.

Rule of thumb:  If a car has a steering wheel and a brake pedal, it is NOT a self driving car.

Does the 2017 and on still have the delayed reaction if a car in front changes in or out of the lane? I'm new to ACC, but this delay still makes me nervous, especially if they are going considerably slower than I. I know I need to trust it and I want to, old habits are hard to break though.

I've had my Energi slam on the brakes faster than I can move my foot when I get cut off in a dangerous fashion. However, if someone moves in front of me and they're still a "safe" distance ahead (i.e at least one car length), my Energi does take longer than I'd like to slow down in order to maintain its following distance (which I set to 4 bars).

As murphy said, this tech, while useful, is not meant to substitute for the driver, so stay alert :) I can't wait for the day self driving taxis become the norm, but until then I will strive to stay alert, and see these driver aids as just a safeguard against potential fatigue.

I'm looking for a used Ford Fusion Energi 2017-2018 with ACC Stop and Go. However, it is unclear which trims have this feature. Do all 2017 and beyond Energi's that have ACC, also have the stop and go functionality?

2017 and 2018 models that have ACC include the stop and go functionality. ACC is only standard on the Platinum trim for those years. Came as an option on SE & Titanium.

To add to wazer's answer, when you're looking at pictures of the used car, you can tell whether or not it has ACC by looking at the steering wheel switch.

Fusions with ACC have a rocker switch on the lower left with two arrows:

Fusions without ACC have this switch instead with the words RES and CNCL in place of the two arrows

It's often the case that the Autotrader or Truecar listing incorrectly reports the options, saying that the car has ACC when it doesn't, or not specifying the existence of ACC when the car most definitely has it. The car I bought also failed to mention that the ACC exists on its TrueCar listing.
