Hi everyone:

I've owned a 2017 Ford Fusion Energi platinum since October 2016. I LOVE my car. I'm absolutely floored with its mileage and with just about everything about it!!! BIT. I have been having some issues with its Telematics unit.. you know.... that wonderful modem like device that allows the app to connect and schedule charging.... or warm and prep the vehicle to be driven, or let you see the other local driver rankings etc etc etc..

Well I have less than 6000km on my car (that's 3750miles for my US brethren). And I've just had my THIRD telematics unit fail!!!! It seems they have about a 2 week lifespan in my car!!!!

Before I take this vehicle in and gave the FOURTH unit installed under warranty, I thought I'd ask the group if this is an isolated incident..... or..,,, has anyone else had similar issues????? I'm just honestly looking for someone to tell me tgeyve had the same issue and gotten it resolved..., because I love my car dooooo much I just can't bear to think I own a lemon...,,,

Any input from the group??

Thanks

Duane

Duane - I have the same issue on my '17 Titanium.  Has 1200 miles on it and have an appointment on Monday for the first (of I am sure many) attempt to get this resolved.  I am afraid I may have a lemon on my hands as I have experienced the following issues since delivery on 11/15/16

- Leaking sunroof

- No one touch roll up on rear windows

- cannot set/edit Go Times from Sync 3

- cannot set/edit Go Times from My Ford Mobile app

- Driver memory will not adjust mirrors

- AM able to set go times from myfordmobile.com and they do get downloaded to both Sync 3 and Myfordmobile app, but does not actually do anything at the specified time

- experiencing a noise when traveling 50 mph in Electric mode.

I will hopefully get SOME answers on Monday and hopefully it does not require four new units but am almost certain it will require one to get these gremlins out

- cannot set/edit Go Times from Sync 3

Ford's Motto: It's easier to ask for forgiveness than to get permission.

Our 2017 Energi Platinum first started exhibiting the 'charge settings zombie panel' syndrome about 3 weeks after we bought it. When we took it to our dealer's service department we also self-diverted to talk with our salesman about the issue. Before the service department could even get us signed up (for service they failed to tell us they do not provide on Saturdays) the salesman was out in the car, and was somehow familiar with this issue. He knew the #10 fuse-pull 'fix', which he performed, and we went away happy...for about another 2 weeks. Problem back...and we are back, at the dealer, who, over the following several days (so far), only gets feigned ignorance and obstinacy from their technical contacts at FORD (they should be forced to visit this site daily!). The obvious solution, albeit only a trial and error solution, is to try a parts exchange to replace the suspect "cell phone transport module", aka here as the "telematics", or the "modem", or the "TCU", and hope for success. But the dealer apparently cannot unilaterally just order a new one without the diagnostic computer supplying an error code to justify the replacement. Of course, the diagnostics show no error, so...

FORD is stonewalling their customers, and apparently their service departments, too. The latest excuse is that the 2017 is "too new" for this to show as worthy of a TSB. Odd, seeing as how they seem have a TSB for earlier models, and apparently use the very same device in 2015's, 2016's, and 2017's. I guess they'd try to fix your broken leg by changing your pants, too.

A call to Ford Customer Service(?)800-392-3673, for over an hour yielded no help. They have no connection to anything or anybody technical, according to the supervisor who called back the next day. You CAN arrange for a tow there, though. The dealer's  "Ace Mech-tech" told me they have been replacing tons of the TCU's in C-Max's and Fusions.

It's really pretty insulting on Ford's part to play the game this way. As much as we like the Fusion when it is fully functional, this, our 2nd, will be our last Ford, period! (I know...just call it 'pun-ctuation')
