Richard Posted October 30, 2017 at 04:29 PM Report Share Posted October 30, 2017 at 04:29 PM (edited) My 2016 Ford Fusion Energi has been great since I purchased it in March of 2016. I now have 4000 plus miles and have noticed that the EV range is no longer the 17 to 21 miles I used to get. Of course, now that the weather is cool andI am using heat, that cuts the range a bit, but even when I do not use climate control the range has dropped to between 13 to 15 miles per charge. I use the 240 volt GE charger and it has worked very well for me and has cut down charging times considerably. I am concerned though that after only one year and so few miles that the range has dropped this much. I plan to have it checked out at my dealer Friday, but I would be interested in other experiences with range and battery performance. fconway Posted October 30, 2017 at 05:16 PM Report Share Posted October 30, 2017 at 05:16 PM we've only been cold here is Missouri for 2 weeks, but I've not noticed a substantial change. my full charge range has been 18 to 25 miles over my year of ownership, the last two weeks has been solidly 18 miles per charge up. I do not use the electric heater unless i'm with my family, if its just me i use the heated seats and steering wheel. I've got a one year old, '17 FFE. jsamp Posted October 31, 2017 at 06:54 PM Report Share Posted October 31, 2017 at 06:54 PM Richard, You may want to go to the Batteries/Charging forum and read some of the threads on battery degradation. There are a number of actions that degrade battery life that should be avoided. These may or may not apply to you, but knowledge is the best defense. Low temps definitely reduce range, but fortunately that is one of the few effects that corrects itself when temps go back up. Many of the other degradation issues are permanent. Best of luck. bdginmo Posted November 2, 2017 at 04:38 AM Report Share Posted November 2, 2017 at 04:38 AM Range doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is the kwh you get out of a charge. Do you know what you're getting? A normal kwh usage for cool weather is about 4.7-5.1 kwh. Normal for warm weather is 5.0-5.4 kwh.
