Just picked up a 2013 Energi Titanium and I noticed there's nothing to keep stuff from falling next to the sides of the battery if placed on top. Yes the 5 inches of space on top. Maybe my used car is missing something? Am I alone in seeking an answer for this?

Do you have a photo of what your trunk looks like?

If it's like the 2017, there's no cover or device to prevent anything placed on top of the battery (in that 5" gap).  I've set a few heavy items up in there and will careful driving they didn't fall or scoot around.  Pretty much it's dead space.
