RickEnergi Posted January 1, 2019 at 04:57 PM Report Share Posted January 1, 2019 at 04:57 PM No, you can't tow a small utility trailer or a snowmobile with a Fusion Energi. You can add a hitch for a bike rack, but you have to watch the tongue weight. You manual states - Never tow a trailer with a Fusion Hybrid. This powertrain is not designed to tow. wparkki Posted July 18, 2019 at 09:39 PM Report Share Posted July 18, 2019 at 09:39 PM (edited) So I now have 98,000 miles on my 2017 energi platinum. I have towed my 17ft boat(3,200lbs) behind this car for 3 years now and have not had any issues. while the manufacture does not rate these vehicles for towing(mostly due to the change in transmission from the ICE models) I can say that the transmissions in these are actually well suited for the stress and we will see the towing capabilities come in for the escape with the same transmission design. I pulled my trans fluid at 60,000 and sent it into the lab with no unexpected wear metal found in the sample and no breakdown in oil. also tow snowmobiles, jet skis, utility 5x8 trailer with all sorts of things (3500 lbs)have never felt unstable although going through the cascades with some of the 16% grades 35-40mph was about all I could do while keeping the rpms around 4000 Edited July 18, 2019 at 09:41 PM by wparkki jj2me

How much charge (kWh) do you use from 100% to the switch to hybrid mode? I would assume you don't tow in EV mode? wparkki Posted July 24, 2019 at 04:25 PM Report Share Posted July 24, 2019 at 04:25 PM when towing in EV I get about 8 miles at 60MPH before I deplete the large battery, and i prefer to tow in EV as long as its not stop and go there hasn't been an issue with heat

Heat isn't the only issue. That is a drain rate of over 5C. NCM batteries only do well at 2C or less. How many kWh do you use from 100% to the switch to hybrid mode?
