slush1000 Posted April 16, 2019 at 03:32 PM Report Share Posted April 16, 2019 at 03:32 PM My local Ford dealership has a few used Fusion PHEV and I was considering buying one. They cannot answer any questions I have about them because they say "We do not deal in many electric vehicles" and they leave it at that. I told them my decision to purchase will rely on an EV battery health report. There only answer is "EV batteries do not degrade" - I have shown them that this is false. So there is little hope for them it seems. Even Ford Canada could not help. Their only reply was "We are not a technical facility" when I contacted the customer care department. Is it even possible to get a battery health report? I do not care if it has to be done at a Ford dealership or not. I just want to know if there is actually a way. Thank you. slush1000 Posted April 16, 2019 at 06:06 PM Author Report Share Posted April 16, 2019 at 06:06 PM Well, I emailed a few dealerships around the country who had some Fusion PHEV in stock and finally got this back from one of them. The battery scan would tell you if there is something wrong or if there is a fault with the battery, the computer system in the vehicle is constantly monitoring it. It wouldn’t tell you how much life is left in the battery itself. So if anyone else is wondering, this appears to be the answer.
murphy Posted April 16, 2019 at 06:33 PM Report Share Posted April 16, 2019 at 06:33 PM You need an electric certified dealer to work on an Energi. If they aren't certified they really don't know anything about it. muzicman61

Anyone who says that is either the most clueless rep in the business, or the biggest liar. Even Ford's own manual that comes with the Energi says that the HV battery, like all other batteries, degrades over time. They were directly contradicting their own company. The best you can do is RUN from this dealer, fast! The only 'battery health' test I know of that tells you the information you seek is the driving test talked about in many threads here on this site. It requires ~1/2 hour drive in EV only which may be a hard item to get a dealer to agree to. All their other tests check for a failed battery, not a degraded one. Good luck. bdginmo and muzicman61

So if anyone else is wondering, this appears to be the answer. That's correct. We sold our Hybrid after 9 years. Before we sold I asked our Service Manager if the battery could be tested, and he confirmed that all they could do is test it for faults, not capacity. jsamp
