Their complete kits seem to be a bargain, and with lifetime warranties. I purchased, the bulbs, digital ballasts wiring harness and error corrector I never used the wiring harness or error corrector yet, you can install without those. Last night my right bulb shut off, I cycled the headlight switch and it turned back on and stayed on. I might have to use the wiring harness and error correctors I think. OEM HID's are 35 watts, going 55w is just stupid. All you do is drive around blinding people. 35w produces more than enough light with a 4500-5000k bulb. I went 4500k, because I like natural light. People that go above 6k doesn't make any sense, it creates a blue light that is less visible at night. Not to mention the strain it puts on your eyes. Where did you mount the ballasts? Is the light output much better than the halogens? Thanks for the input! I put HIDs on my '06 Mustang, but its been awhile since I looked into HIDs. I think you might leave it the way you have it and if that bulb continued to be sketchy, I'd request a new ballast. It doesn't sound like anything more than that. Certainly not error correctors unless you got a "bulb out" warning or lamp, but I can't recall if these cars have that. And this hooks straight into the vehicle harness (which is set up for the halogens, you shouldn't be drawing any more than that (should actually be equal or less with HID), so a new harness would be redundant. It looks like they just wired them through the factory system. The problem is, HID's draw a lower amount of power and I have had the lights turn off. I had to cycle the lights to get them back on again and they stayed on. My kit included a module called a "error corrector" and I am having that installed on Monday that should correct that problem. I found an LED kit that's an H11 type bulb that has my interest. It says it puts out 1200 lumens, eats 15 watts, and has a color temp of 5000k if I remember correctly. The kit I found was around 125 bucks, but with a 20,000 hour life, I should never have to replace them again. I'm big on energy savings. Halogens are so old. I cannot believe they didn't even offer optional HIDs on such an advanced car. They did with the Focus Electric. Better hope you never have to replace those either. The kit was 130 bills. http://store.ijdmtoy.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=15W-LED-Headlights&click=13811 I also hit up Amazon and found one that was 16 watts... had 2 forward 5W led lights and a bunch surrounding it adding an additional 6W. Those were 40 for a pair. Problem is I couldn't find a lumen output for them. If I can find a set for 1200 - 1500 lumens, I'd probably go for it. There were several other choices too... including H11 bulbs that were only 150 lumens. Can't use that! :) Newegg has a couple as well but way overpriced at 80 something. I have a 3W LED flashlight/light gun (I call it my light cannon) that I bought from Home Depot (a Husky branded item) and that thing is BRIGHT. I couldn't believe how much light that thing gives for only a 3 watt unit. Runs on a Ni-MH cordless phone battery. You can't stare in to it as it is pretty blinding even at 15 feet. Every time I took my car to the dealer I had to take out the radar detector I had harwired to the rear view mirror with a cable similar to the invisicord, because whatever the problem was they would attribute to the radar detector. The only benefit of them is longer life, but if you're looking for something with significantly more light for the energy required, HID is definitely the way to go. 35w HIDs can output nearly 3,000 lumens depending on the color temperature you choose. I also think I messed up my statement above as well (that being high/low beam bulbs are H11). Low beams are H11 and the high is H7. I kept looking on Fordparts and even though the call out number is the same, they're different bulbs, and at the time, the Sylvania bulb finder application didn't have the 2013 model year in it yet. Last thing I need is to get it all done and have something burn and hhave to pay for it to get fixed again. Its at least 2-3 hours worth of work to get it all done. Pics when its done!
