  1. That's a bummer. I really like knowing how much gas I burned. Ford was already way behind GM for info display and it seems it's getting worse.
  2. This thread title is misleading. The Volt has always outperformed the FFE in EV range, nothing new here. It's ALWAYS lacked in passenger room and that's what they needed to address. This photo proves to me that Chevy isn't actually listening to their customers. We've been telling Chevy that we (and our friends who would consider the car) needed that 5th seat. So, what do they do? They add a 5th seat but nowhere for legs to go. Ridiculous. Is that passenger going to sit, spread-eagle, to straddle the hump? What a waste of time and money. They obviously know they need that 5th seat. They should have removed hump part of that "T" shaped pack, made it longer and wider and then it would have been a contender for families. We are really happy with our FFE but a 5 seat, mid-size, 40 mile EV Volt would have us back with GM.
  3. Wow, I hated reading that. So, is everything up and running now? LOL, I was about to order them but logged in here first. I think I'll wait till we're both home for a few days in case we need to have parts over-nighted too.
  4. I'm referring to these http://www.xenondepot.com/h11-h8-h16-philips-Ultinon-LED-Bulb-p/12834unix2-h11.htm
  5. Did anyone consider the LED kit? They're plug & play, so no wiring to cut, no external boxes to mount and they run cool and use little electricity. They're on the Leaf and I8 (and I3?).
  6. PM sent, thanks Doug. I do wish we had a cargo net ;)
  7. Yup, you're right. Another mistake by Chevy IMHO. Locking fuel doors have been around forever, there was no reason to give up on the lock because it wasn't working perfectly. Chevy keeps taking steps backwards or sideways while others are moving forward. I disagree that it was a nuisance and shouldn't lock based on the premise that there were times when people didn't have their fob and were inconvenienced. Do those same people remove their doors locks for the times they don't have their keys? Chevy could remove the door completely for times when people didn't have a free hand to open it ;) Funny, Leaf owners use to complain that the Volt had a locking door while they had to unlock manually. Now they have auto-unlocking doors and can lock the plug in place (at least on some models) and Volt's don't do either.
  8. For some reason I ended up with two sets of these. They are brand new in box, black in color. I don't know if both sets are for sale. I'm asking $70 shipped for the one set. PayPal would be preferred. Thanks
  9. I think if you're going to judge their looks as EV cars, they should stand out. We LOVE the way the FFE looks but the only way unknowing folks can tell it's an EV instead of a regular FF or FFH is the charge door (and I did have one guy ask if that's where I put the gas). That's one thing I love about the Leaf & Volt, they're different than anything else from their manufacturer (well the Volt not so much anymore). Same thing with Tesla, BMW i's and even the iMiev. They all stand out - too bad the FFE & FFEV don't.
  10. yup, the Volt and Leaf have locking charge doors. the Leaf goes one further by also giving the driver the ability to lock the plug to the car. it can automatically release after completing the charge or can remain locked until the owner returns. I'm pretty unimpressed with the lack of a lock for the charge door. It's cool that it spins but it should lock. and, the FFE should have a 6.6 behind the locking door.
  11. Thanks, I'd considered a boot mat but would prefer custom. You're right though, not a bad option.
  12. If you don't ever find it slow in EV-Only then I'm happy for you. We're not in the same boat. Most of the time it is fine, it's just a weaker motor compared to the competition (16 sec v 8 sec) and burning gas to make the FFE faster is a poor compromise IMHO. But, yes, with the engine burning gas it's the fastest in it's class - I just don't want to burn gas. We're really happy with the FFE, but Ford should have done some research on the competition. I'd also like it better if they'd included a 6.6 charger (20+ mphc!) and built the battery to the "roof" of the trunk for even better range.
  13. With all the wet weather I'd like to have a rubber trunk mat but can't find one. Weathertech makes one for the hybrid & non-hybrid. I just filled out the product request form. I figured I'd post the link here in case others were interested (http://www.weathertech.com/service/product-request-form/)
  14. I like the idea of the 2" hitch because most of my stuff was 2" and it's easier than using an adapter. Where does it say that the hitch is rated for 500lbs? The one I found on Torklift Central was 350lbs.
  15. I found some on eBay for $18 shipped. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-FUSION-front-and-rear-oval-emblem-DECAL-STICKER-OVERLAY-SET-2013-2014-/171410008377?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&var=&hash=item27e8d52939&vxp=mtr eBay item # 171410008377 They don't have the color combo's I'd buy and I have no experience with them.
  16. According to a dealer they've seen a few of the Volt chargers (the ones with orange cords) having problems.
  17. Metallic-Black Energi Ti. We also own a Volt with ~36K on it that we've filled up about 10-12 times and have only bought gas for once this year and we drive it about 40m/day 6d/week, IIRC. We won't get that e-mileage with the FFE but it's worth the trade-off. We really like the Volt because of it's range. We didn't buy a 2nd Volt though because of the Volt's shortcomings. The FFE has less range but that extra seat is awesome, the space inside is better, the features are great (I've always loved AC seats). I do wish it had the Volt's range (or better) and that it had a 6.6 (+) charger and I'm hoping that Ford comes out with one. I don't want to de-badge it, if anything I'd rather it said "EV" or "EREV" louder. That's something that the Volt, Leaf & Tesla have over the FFE. They really stand out from the crowd. I knew the EV-only acceleration was slow so I'm not disappointed, but I don't understand why Ford didn't put a more powerful motor in there. Overall, I'm very happy, I just hope for a faster charger and better tech to decrease the battery pack size while increasing the capacity (someday).
  18. That will come down soon I'm sure. The Leaf, which uses a MUCH larger battery, has already cut it's price - a new one will be available for $5,499!!! Granted, that's a passively cooled battery, but has ~4x the capacity. Are you sure that Ford isn't taking a look at your battery info? The other manufacturers can do it through the cellular antenna (anonymously?). Can't Ford? Our Volt has been filled up around 10-12 times and has about 36K (and a smaller gas tank too)! We've only filled it once this year and we drive it about 40 miles/day 6/week IIRC! City EV's are easy to keep EV. We're not going to be able to go nearly as far with the FFE because of it's shorter range but it's worth it.
  19. Odd, it should have worked fine. Did it work with the Volt?
  20. I haven't seen the red in person. I spoke to a salesman in Orlando (?) who has a brick red interior. He said it's a deal breaker and they cannot sell the car because of it. Apparently it's used as their demo car and has around 800 miles on it now. Based on that I ruled out the red interior. The parking assist is fun but getting OEM front sensors are the main reason to buy IMHO. The '14 moonroof opening is 18-1/4". I wouldn't spend more to get OEM 18's. If you're spending money to look different then why buy OEM?
  21. Weird, I wonder if they reprogrammed mine before delivery. Congrats again, great looking car. LMK if/when those chargers get installed.
