  1. I got the recall that our on board modem needed to be replaced. We took it in and they replaced it, but it wouldn't work because of a software glitch. Brought the car back a month later (this is 300 miles round trip each time) they "updated" the software, but now My Ford Mobile never get updated anymore. Is this normal? What do I do now. BTW, it is a 2016 FFE. I would think the service is still available. We bought it in May of 2015. Any ideas?
  2. press the climate control on the screen, turn off the ac button, set the air flow to dash and feet. That always worked on our '13. Even the temp control works (if it is 65 outside and you are set to 72 it maintains 72) Hope it helps ....
  3. Yes, we traded our HyTi in April for a 2016 Energi Titanium. Wouldn't go back for anything now. We have about 5000 miles on it and it still impresses me every time I drive it. Averaging 55 + on long trips and 100+ e around town .... :dance:
  4. I hear that! We spend a lot of time in Big Bear California. We usually drive from southern NM Socorro on US 60 to 260 on the Mogollon Rim to Parker, cross the river and then endure the Parker to 29 Palms route. It has it's place, kinda makes me appreciate NM LOL. We find it usually adds an hour to a days drive, and almost cuts in half the fuel usage. Try it sometime grasshopper, you might get "enlightened" :victory: :D
  5. I am retired :dance: Besides, these cars (a hybrid before this one) has "enlightened" me to a whole new approach of traveling. There is actually scenery out there, it is not just the big ass of a semi truck in front LOL. We even drive the Corvettes on the back roads .... :2thumbs:
  6. I find the electric helps tremendously on longer trips. In NM, CO and AZ where we mostly drive, we use only the electric when driving through towns on the way (I drive exclusively secondary US and state highways when possible, about 90 percent of the time) and use hybrid on anything over 45 MPH. We usually average high 50's to low 60's on 3 to 6 hundred mile trips. Watch your technique (braking, acc, climate, deceleration etc) and I think you will be very pleasantly surprised. We have never had to pay for charging at motels. I usually ask if we can run our extension cord to a battery charger on the car .... :) Have fun!
  7. I am interested to see what Walmart does here. We had a shopping cart do 1000 dollars worth of damage on our previous FFH and they refused to fix the car. Our insurance ponied up. I was livid but what can you do. This is different, I doubt his insurance will pay for this, and I would be willing to bet Walmart balks at fixing this...... I hope I am wrong. Wishbone, make sure you keep us posted brother, I tried to stop shopping there, but in our part of the country, it is difficult .....

  9. I am working on that and have come close to it. I like taking secondary roads (old US highways and State highways), most secondary highways out here are 55 MPH so it makes it easy. I have done 59 over 250 miles. If/when I break the 60 MPG barrier will will post pics. I think it is very doable! :happy feet:
  10. Well, first of all I will stay loyal to American made. Flame away if you want about foreign being made here blah blah, but that is what I have always done and what I will do. My last foreign car was a VW diesel rabbit in '79. Secondly, Ford has a bottom line that it needs to fulfill. Electric cars are NOT what the country is buying. I think the Electric and PHEV idea will catch on and quickly now that it has some momentum, but this is still a highly competitive industry and profit is the bottom line. I am amazed at what some of you guys are saying. Think about where the EV market was 10 years ago, even 5 years ago, and Ford isn't doing anything? Give me a break. I am extremely happy with both of the EV cars I have bought from Ford, I think they are working on major developments that we will see in a few years, but with only 3 percent of the market share, hybrid/PHEV cars, just don't justify major investment for development. Yes, it angers me that they are removing features from our cars, but it really isn't the manufactures fault when so many people (who aren't driving the cars like they should) complain about the displays not showing the numbers that were promised. I owned my own businesses for 40 years, you get tired of the customer din after a while, and in Ford's case, the legal ramifications are real. I for one, am more than pleased with what Ford is doing and I will continue to stand behind them. JMHO

  12. OK, I drove across town (2 miles LOL) this AM at about 5:30 and left it in drive going down the hill. The engine did not come on. As I approached our only traffic light, I dropped into L and sure enough, the engine came on. As I turned right at the light, I went back to D and the engine shut off..... Thanks Bear.   13. We just leased our Titanium a few months ago. We also got a 3 year 13500/year with a 6000 rebate no down and a 19700 residual buyout. The rebates are supposed to run through the end of July. With a buy out of less that 20K, it is a pretty good deal. HOWEVER, we will probably just lease another at the end of this lease. We like driving new, but to each their own... JMHO Dick
  14. So it does beg a question. I don't recharge after every trip, but I do keep it charged up. Would I be better keeping the batteries slightly "used" to give it some regen space? Or is it more likely the heat, or a combination of both ..... :headscratch: Dick
  15. OK, thanks bear. Useful information. We are running it in low, and it is hot here. It was this afternoon and we were up in the high 90's (it's a dry heat LOL), so that is what is doing it. The first time it did it was when we left the dealership after a meet and greet with the sales and tech staff. We charged it at their level 2 station just before leaving and it is downhill for miles from the dealership so it was just protecting the batteries both times. I will watch it and verify and I will also read the links although I did read the ev now thread. Kind of funny they BS you by saying it is a performance boost LOL.   16. We start the car in EV Now and as soon as we start to roll (varies as to when inexplicably) the engine starts and a message on the left says "engine on for maximum performance". WTH? I didn't buy a plugin so the engine runs. When it does it, it usually gets about 35 MPG. I am not pleased with that is that is what is happening. We have tried with and WO AC. Any ideas? Dick

Of course it is. :lol: As a farm boy, I am used to, and enjoy, getting up early. i have found I can do what I want and be finished in California before they get up :victory: BUT, I will be wary of the BEV'ers We plan on Yosemite in the late spring, should be pretty quiet....... What do BEV'ers have against PHEV'ers? I mean we all have batteries in common .... :judge:
  18. OK, we will learn how to "work the system". In Oregon (where we have condo time in a bunch of areas) we have a LOT of charge stations to choose from up there. We will be there next year at two sites for a couple of weeks. We will certainly use the "system" as much as we can! Thanks HB, as usual, great info! :)
  19. I downloaded plugshare the other day and was playing around with the sites I can use here in NM and also some of the NW/Calif. areas we vaca in. Some of the prices are kind of outrageous some are free. Do you worry about cost or do you just plug and go. What do you usually do while charging? :D We are going to the dealership for a "new owner" get together. They have 2 or 3 level 2 stations so I should get a full charge before coming home. NM IS challenged charge station wise LOL
  20. We took our first trip south yesterday. It is a round trip of approximately 160-180 miles depending on how much "shopping" we do. The car was flawless in comfort, operation, design. We were able to get an MPG of 62 and used up all of the 20 miles of HVB (it is now showing 26 miles when fully charged, so I guess I am doing it right). That mileage is almost 20 MPG more than the '13 HyTi we replaced .... that is amazing! I am totally happy and blown away by this technology. I have a 300 miler coming up next week with a chance to possibly charge on a level 2 while there. We will see. Just thought I would share. This is a hybrid on steroids! :D
  21. I can tell you that the speed limit sign in both the dash and the display is now larger on the 2016 Titanium. Maybe they were getting complaints? LOL Anyway, just a heads us. I am glad I wasn't the only one who couldn't see those very well, I don't feel as old anymore :)
  22. OK, so I can treat this as accurate? Most of my trips (except to Walmar) will be 3.5 to 4.5 miles so I will lose some, but I am not that anal about all of this, just enjoying driving a first class American made Car! :)

  24. Actually no, sorry. To expand on your first point, the screens are VERY different and very limited compared to the '13 and in that vein I am not happy at all. I have not driven it since our "loop", can I bring it back up? The MPG is 999.9 (which is real helpful :( ) when turning it on in accessory (no brake application). I wish I had reset my trip 2 counter, although I suspect I would see the 999.9 there as well. Any ideas? We are planning a trip south tomorrow or the next day, so I won't have the current trip after "starting it" :) Dick
