About Ford Doctor

  1. Version 2. Voice commands? You are missing the point. There are many albums out there where songs go together, tell a story or one leads into another. There is music in my collection where a song ends with an intro to another and then the wrong song will play. I realize some people think I am nuts but for ME this is annoying. There are actually people out there that buy the whole record... and then listen to the whole record. You get used to them in the order hat you have always listened to them. Considering that SYNC is capable of indexing artists and albums I would think it would be simple to program settings for indexing. Alphabetical or Track Number? Most album files have this data and it can easily be added. Some of the file names of song titles in my collection start off with it's track number. Maybe this is something Ford could add in a future update or version?
  2. Using a USB flash drive for my media library which contains complete albums with all of their songs. The only thing that is not to my liking is that the songs are indexed and play in alphabetical order instead of the order that they are arranged on the album. I searched around in the settings but found nothing related or did I miss something? Is there a way to change this easily? I am not using playlists at all. I always browse my media files by artist, select an album and play it. If I look at the folders and files, the file names are numbered in the proper order, there is also a track number field. Apparently the songs are being indexed by the title of the songs? I am I right on this?
  3. Where is the car being serviced? At a Ford Dealer? Are there any codes in ANY module? I would not rule out a bad 12v battery. In my experience multiple concerns like you experienced indicates a network fault which can be caused by vehicle voltage concerns, module failures and most commonly wiring concerns. Your Fusion has multiple electronic control modules and multiple systems that need to share data to operate properly which is achieved by using communication networks. When a network fails usually things just stop working but sometimes will create erratic faults and cause multiple warning indicators to illuminate. Diagnosis can be tricky and if wiring is the root cause it may take a little time to locate if the technician needs to remove parts from the vehicle to access, inspect and repair a damaged circuit.
  4. I ended up with a Lexar 64Gb USB3 Low Profile drive which is out of the way in my console. Totally recommend using the "compact" or "micro" drives. Was already FAT32 and seems to work just dandy. I don't bother with playlists. I take entire CD's and load them, play them... and yes, downloading music from my library to the drive was fairly quick considering the size of the data I transferred. My entire collection at this time is CD's that were imported using iTunes and then I simply copied the files from my iTunes Music folder to my USB drive.
  5. That is pretty much the conclusion I have come to. I'm shopping for a USB-3 64GB compact flash drive. I hate the way my current "stick" sticks out. I keep whacking it when I go into my console.
  6. So I have looked in my owner's guide and in the workshop manual and I cannot find specifications for using the USB drive in my 2016 FFE. So I am wondering if the USB drive supports USB-3 or nor before I go and purchase a dedicated thumb drive for my car to store my music on. Anyone know or is there another publication I have overlooked? USB-3 is backward compatible and I have read that people are using USB-3 drives but I was wondering if this system can even take advantage of the faster data rate... or will it make no difference? And of course, there seems to be a limit of storage size before the system becomes slow to index or respond. Recommendations? :headscratch:
  7. I was thinking about this today while driving my 1-week old Fusion. 2014 Escape temp spare... no modifications required?
  8. Actually, you can and I DID install the app on my iPhone, registered and set up all from the mobile app. It was several days after that I accessed My Ford Mobile on my PC and everything was fine.
  9. I just picked up a new 2016 Ford Fusion Energi and absolutely LOVE the car. Even though I am a Ford dealer technician who is electric and hybrid vehicle certified, I have no experience with these cars so I am here to learn from you so please afford me some time to catch up! I am actually a diesel specialist who primarily works on all Ford trucks but if I can help with any technical questions on these electric vehicles I will be happy to do so. I am sure I will quickly become an enthusiast like many of you. And yes, I am "that" Ford Doctor of the Diesel Technician Society website.
