  1. Hey thinkcooper, Glad posting your story on Ford's Facebook Service Page lit a fire under them. It is sad that Ford doesn't step in until they read negative feedback on social media. Keep us posted!
  2. Hey thinkcooper, The last time I needed my dealer's attention, a Ford contact (may have been someone on the IVT Team) told me to post my concern on Ford's Facebook page. I do not do Facebook but I used it to post my frustration with my dealer. Ford replied and asked me to send them my VIN. Plus I filled out a survey with very low scores and my dealer contacted immediately. I think the survey is what did it, but most companies do not want negative feedback out there on social media. Go to Facebook and search for Ford.
  3. My Service Advisor said that my car was their first modem replacement. I told him that made me very nervous. But I have to say it appears that the replacement went smoothly. So far no trim pieces have fallen off or appear to be broken. How long will it take the duct tape to lose it's adhesion and pieces start to fall off? :) When I picked my car up my SA told me he had to re-pair my phone and wanted to do that for me. I told him I can do that quickly so it was Ok. Well, I started my car and my phone paired immediately. Not sure if any of you had to re-pair your phones or not. But my Go Times stopped working. I checked the settings in the car and Go Times were Off. My dealer said they did not know about that as an issue after the modem replacement, but said Ford told them customers would have to re-pair their phones. I think the Go Times defaulting to Off is a bigger issue. Now Go Times work and everything seems peachy. I still hate my service department though. Just saying.
  4. So what is the magical timeframe until MFM updates correctly?? I had my modem replaced on Monday, 12/12. When I dropped my car off at the dealer 15 miles were showing as the predicted range. I have driven the car 3 times since then and charged up each time. Still showing 15 miles.
  5. You know, I was always worried how much my windshield would be because I have the Driver's Assist Package. I don't know if the Lane Keeping Assist is the issue. I think the Rain Sensing Wipers would be. I figured the replacement windshield would just need the area for the Lane Keeping cameras clear. I don't know about the sensor for the wipers though. Try this website: http://www.autoglassreplacementquote.com/vehicle-makes/ford/ford-fusion/
  6. After my modem replacement this morning MFM is showing my trips and charging just fine, but the battery icon in my dash does not update the predicted mileage. It is stuck on 15 which are the miles showing when I dropped off my car this morning.
  7. I saved the instructions and all the links to update to version 3.8. It is fairly lengthy so anyone that would like the instructions can PM me and I will send.
  8. My modem replacement was completed today in probably 2 hours or so. My paperwork does not mention trim replacements at all. I did ask my service advisor if they had all the parts in. His reply was that the technicians order everything that is listed for the modem replacement. If trim has to be replaced they order that too. Who knows what the correct answer is.
  9. ClaveMan, Go to this site and enter zip codes near you to find Ford dealers. If they sell Energi's they should be certified to work on them. But I would call those dealers and inquire how many Energi's or Focus Electrics they actually work on. I feel like my local dealer, although Energi certified, is practicing on my car. I have not had the best service experience. http://www.ford.com/dealerships/locate/ The dealer that I purchased my Energi from was fantastic! This dealer is about 400 miles away from where I live. My sales guy knew everything about the car unlike other dealers that I spoke with. I think everyone on this forum knew much more about the Energi before they purchased their cars. I knew a lot about the car (from researching and from the friends on this forum) before I negotiated with the dealer. When I took delivery of my Energi, my sales guy spent at least an hour with me going over everything inside and outside the car. He set up the MyFord Mobile app for me. While I was sitting in the car I received the 2nd confirmation. He went over an extensive check list with me as well. And he also took me on a short drive to demo the Active Park Assist. This guy also enrolled me in Blink (charging stations) but I have never used them. He also told me about all the rebates and incentives I was entitled to. In fact, if I remember correctly, he even completed the paperwork for the California state rebate. He told me about applying for the HOV stickers, and I just had to enter my license plate numbers once I received those and send a check for the fee. He even showed me the two 240v chargers that Energi certified dealers were required to have, and he told me I could charge up if I was ever in the area. My car was on the charger when we did the check out process. It was all very seamless for me. The servicing of my Energi is an entirely different story which I will not get into here. :)
  10. From 2017 Fusions with Adaptive Cruise Control have the stop and go function so using ACC during stop and go traffic would be terrific. Just like a Tesla! If Ford was like Tesla, I would think they could update the prior model years with stop and go that have ACC. But apparently not. In my opinion, Ford's Driver Assist options are actually really good.
  11. Hi rowekmr, I also have every option on my Energi. I use Blind Spot Monitor a lot especially in traffic. Lane Keep Assist can be annoying at times but I turn it on when I drive distances. Personally I like the active assist so I turned off alert and only use aid. I consider myself very good at parallel parking but I have used Active Park Assist twice to actually park. I don't have the opportunity to parallel park very often and I don't count showing friends this feature as actually using it! I figured since it was an option I might as well get it. The extra front sensors for cross traffic alert came in handy when I had to exit one of those underground parking garages with zero side visibility and you cross over the sidewalk. I do like the Auto High Beam and Rain Sensing Wipers a lot. To me, Adaptive Cruise is the best feature and I will never buy another vehicle without it. That's my opinion on the options on the Energi. They might not seem significant in 2016 since many vehicles have these as available options now. But back in 2013 the Fusion was one of the very few models with these features available. I was impressed.
  12. Hi Kipp, I've driven in very heavy rain several times and have not experienced any leaks at any time. I have the moonroof and no leaks from that either. Let us know what the dealer finds.
  13. Hi jlh1960, I think it would help to know which features are must haves for you. Or if you're looking at SE or Titanum or it that matters. I'm going off of memory so I apologize for any errors. If push button start is important, only the Titanium's had it in 2013. For 2014 it became an available option on SE's. Only the Titaniums came with the rear spoiler in 2013. If you want heated/cooled seats and a heated steering wheel then look at 2014 or newer. I forgot the names of the leather seat options on 2014 and 2015. But you could opt for "red" or "ceramic" besides the charcoal gray. Titanium's came with aluminum door sill plates. The leather seats were different between the SE and the Titanium. You would have to do a seat of the pants comparison to feel which is more comfortable. Much nicer rims were available on 2016 models. I think late 2016 Fusions have Sync 3. Earlier models still had My Ford Touch but Ford changed to physical buttons on the center stack instead of capacitive touch for Titanium's. I've driven other Fords with Sync 3 and it definitely is quicker to respond and simpler to use. But I haven't had any trouble with MFT and I like it. There were colors that were discontinued after each model year. I haven't driven another Energi besides my 2013 so I can't offer any differences in drivability between the years. 2013's tell you the predicted EV range in the High Voltage Battery. I think Ford stopped displaying that range after being sued for mis-stating range/fuel economy. I don't know exactly when that was discontinued, late 2014 or early 2015. It may not matter to you at all, but I like seeing that predicted range. Forum members might correct my details - dangerous to go off of my memory - but at least you have a few items to research by year! Let us know what you end up with!
  14. If your charge port light ring (all four quadrants) stays on after your HVB charge is complete, it sounds like what murphy explained, your 12v battery may be charging. Mine does the same thing every so often. I do not drive my car daily. After I drive my car and charge it, after I receive the text message that charging is complete, my charge port light ring remains on (not flashing) and my 240v charger indicates that my car is still charging (I have a Clipper Creek so a green light shows charging). I can hear a low hum from the fan so I know the 12v battery is being charged; unlike the full blast whirring when the HVB is being charged. At other times, after not driving the car for a week, my Clipper Creek indicates it's charging and I can hear a low hum from the fan, but the charge port light ring does not illuminate. My 12v battery is being charged. Is that what you notice with your car?
  15. From what owner.ford.com shows it may not be available with Sync 3. Just for grins have you tried speaking the voice command "Vehicle Health Report" while sitting in your new Energi to see if the car recognizes the command?
  16. Hi ClaveMan! I have always thought like murphy; buy what you want! I bought my Energi without calculating how many EV miles I would drive daily, or how many gallons of gas I would consume, or when would I recoup the cost difference. Back then gas was probably close to $4/gal. Frankly, I didn’t care. I wanted the Energi. I did not even consider the Hybrid. Your calculations could be both right and wrong. It depends how crafty you are when you're driving. Here’s why I say that. I drive two 262 miles round trips twice a month. These drives consist of a short EV drive from my house to the highway,. Then it’s EV Later mostly from there. But there are several lengths of uphill and then downhill. On the downhill I switch to EV Auto, put Hill Decent on, and during one stretch the car puts 3 miles back into the HVB. Then from the highway to the parking facility I’m in EV Auto. So I always end up at my destination with MORE miles in the HVB than when I got onto the highway and switched to EV Later. Here is an example of my numbers from the last long drive: 131.0 miles EV miles 28.5 Fuel Economy 40 mpg (not MPGe) - I won't tell you how fast I drive! :) Then for the next week I’m using EV because my drives are all in town and short. I work from home so I’m only running errands when I do not have to travel. Personally, I think you would be very happy with the Energi. If you have not driven the Energi fully charged and then driven the Hybrid, you should do that. Just be sure the dealer has a fully charged Energi. Do not test drive the Energi in Hybrid mode. Let us know what you decide to buy!
  17. Yes, I learned fairly quickly that the service guys do not know a lot about the Energi. I was the first Energi owner in my town, and I know an employee of the dealer bought an Energi SE about a year later, so now there are at least 2 of us. It seems to depend on how well my service guy reads up on the recalls or issues. One service guy I had was great and would proactively tell me all the TSB's or recalls that would be performed if not already completed. Now I have a new guy. He has not charged my car before I pick it up. The other guys would always charge my car. The last time I took my car in it was raining so we'll see if the new guy washes my car and charges it the next time. Fingers crossed. Now if he would just call me to let me know that the modem is in.......
  18. I have been using an iPhone 6 and a 6 Plus for about a year too, and I've always had to enter my 4 digit code prior to today when it tried the app.
  19. My service guy was supposed to order the new modem on 10/28, and he said he would call me when the part arrived. I'm still waiting for that call. He said it may take "a while." At first he told me this will not be covered since it is not a warranty issue. I replied that this is a recall so it is covered and that I received the letter explaining actions to take. He looked up my information, and sure enough it showed the FSA 15N04, and it appeared to explain the steps involved that the dealer has to take. It's just strange that the service people are not all up to date on these issues.
  20. Very strange, the app was working for me all along, and today it does not ask for my 4 digit PIN either.
  21. Hi Pete, I just checked and the app acts the same way for me as it does for you. The days of the week are blank. Have you tried setting Go Times from your computer? I have never set Go Times using the app - I have always used my computer. But you are supposed to be able to use the app to set Go Times so there must be something buggy with the app. I also receive a Service Network Error when I tried to delete my Go Times using the app. The other thing is if you're using the 120v charger that came with the car you probably won't notice much cabin heat as you will if you were using a 240v charger. 22. Hi ClaveMan, You'll definitely like the ride of the Energi better than the Insight. But test drive the Energi as much as you can. Here are my opinions for you. 1. Great gas mileage. You won’t get great gas mileage if the Energi will be your daily driver and you do 110 miles. You should expect 39-42 mpg if you don’t have long downhill stretches where you might be able to regenerate some miles back into the high voltage battery. Sounds as if you’ll be in Hybrid mode for most of your drive. You said you do have stop and go during some of that commute so you may achieve higher mpg. 2. Nerd factor. You definitely won’t look like a nerd driving the Energi, but you can always do the nerdy hypermiling in the right lane while Insight drivers pass you on the left! 3. Safety. I think the Energi has great safety features. BLIS/Cross Traffic Alert can come in handy when reversing out of parking spaces or exiting parking garages that cross sidewalks. I have Adaptive Cruise Control which I think is one of the best features offered. For 2017 it has been improved to stop and start without driver input following the car in front of you. To get a feel of how it works I recommend test driving an Energi with this feature. 4. The trunk is very small but as long as that is not an issue then you're all set! If you find a dealer that sells the Energi, set an appointment for the day you want to test drive it. Ask them if they can have the car fully charged when you arrive. All the dealers that I visited did not have their Energi's charged so I drove them in Hybrid mode which isn't ideal. I'm sure others on this forum have different opinions and recommendations for you, but you are in very good hands with the members of this forum! Good luck!
  23. Did anyone receive a letter from Ford about the embedded modem replacement? My letter arrived today. I had scheduled an appointment for last Friday (made the appointment about 2 weeks in advance), and my service guy didn't know about this modem replacement. The technicians told him later that he has to fill out paperwork so they can order the modem from Ford. So I am waiting for my dealer to notify me that the new modem arrived. Enclosed is a pamphlet on how to use MFM.
  24. I was nervous about buying the first model year of the Energi. There are many electronic components (my car has all options) and I wasn’t quite sure how well they would function or hold up. I can tell you that this car has been to the dealer more times than all my previous cars have. But prior to the Energi I have purchased used cars and most were out of warranty. Since everything was covered under warranty I took it in to have every little thing fixed. The “F” or "I" on several of the Fusion emblems fell off so new badges were installed. The charge ring lost a quadrant twice I think. The other issues were all resolved by TSB’s. I have taken it in for the Door Latch Recall. Nothing other than the Door Latch Recall was ever a safety or drivability issue for me. Part of my issues were due to my dealer being Energi certified but lacking the experience working on the Energi. I felt as if they were learning by working on my car. There is only 1 other Energi in my town. As an example, my trunk was not staying open. There is a TSB to replace the torsion bar on Energi’s with the spoiler. It took my dealer 4 times to install the new torsion bar correctly. I kept telling them that their fix didn’t fix anything. One time they said the new torsion bar was defective, then they admitted instaling the torsion bar upside down on the 3rd attempt. Seriously? So the 4th time resolved the issue. I can tell you that I do not have any regrets about buying the Energi and would do it all over again. Personally, I find the Fusion rides better than the Camry or Sonata, but that’s just my seat of the pants impression from driving all of them. I find the interior materials of the Fusion to be slightly better quality too.
  25. Sorry for the long winded reply.... There are many on this forum that are able to tell you whether the FFE or the Sonata Hybrid is “better” for you economically by mileage driven or electric miles driven and gas consumption. I am one of the crazy people that did not care how long it would take to break even or recoup the price difference between the FFE and another vehicle. I WANTED the Energi. I have driven many vehicles when I travel for work and the new Sonata was one of them. Personally the Sonata felt less premium than the Fusion. I drove several Sonata SE's. I have driven the Fusion SE and that felt higher quality than the Sonata in both interior materials and ride. I would look at all Hybrids if that is an option for you. The Fusion Hybrid, the Accord Hybrid, and even the Camry Hybrid. Between all of those, as well as the Sonata Hybrid, which vehicle do you feel more comfortable when in the driver’s seat. The layout of the dash, and the ease of using the controls are what matters the most. The FFE Platinum you are considering probably has a lot of features that might be options on others so be sure to find similar features/options on each car. You are right about the tax breaks. I took advantage of every discount possible; $1500 rebate from state of California, $2000 rebate from my city/county, $4007 Fed tax credit, and 30% (I think) Fed tax credit on the 240 home charger. Ford had a $750 coupon (was in a brochure) and the dealer gave me $150 discount for chatting on line about my car. In the end I paid less for my Energi than I would have for the Fusion Hybrid. Once you get used to driving in electric mode with the Energi, you will hate hearing any vehicle using the engine (including the Energi). Every vehicle that I rent is “noisy” just because I can hear the engine every time I accelerate and when idling at a stop. I don’t think I’m biased on this one - whenever I get back in my car I’m in electric mode and it is just so quiet! As jeff_h mentioned, trunk space is the main limiting factor for the Energi. For me, the small trunk is not an issue at all. Good luck with your decision!
