Today I pulled into my garage, turned off the car and went to get out...only to find that i could not! I hit the unlock icon on the door: nothing. I hit the same on my key fob and again, nothing. I en tried to manually pull the door handle; no go!! I was LOCKED in my car! I could feel panic begin to set in as i repeated these actions over and over again to no avail. Unfortunately, i began to experience a true panic attack. I tried to hold it together as i dialed Ford's technical department. I told the gentleman what I was experiencing, who then put me on hold for the next 5 minutes!! (5 minutes is a lifetime when you are having a panic attack). I hung up and called back. The second gentleman asked me if I tried my key fob and/or door handle. Uh! YES?! I then asked if it was possible for Ford to remotely unlock my car door. No they have no way of doing that. He suggested I call roadside assistance (if 10 minutes seems unbearable, imagine the thought of remaining in that state for another 30 minutes or worse!). I had no other alternative but to call roadside to at least get that option going. While they had me on hold, i again went through my paces: key fob, door handle, unlock button..nothing. Repeating these steps once more, I hear a click. I try the door. It unlocks and I am out! If I had been in that car 2 more seconds I would have thrown up. It was a terrible experience to say the least. Once I called Ford to try to find out why this happened so that it wouldn't ever happen again. Unfortunately, they didn't seem to know why it occurred and suggested I take it to the dealer and have it analyzed. This I will do but my suspicion is that it will have been a random event which means it will be possible that this could occur again. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what did you learn?
