About DinAZ

  1. thanks! I had read some of the posts here, and reading more that you linked helped. i went with the AGM. the H5 from Walmart fit without having to alter the tray! Wet cell may work just as well, but since AGM may last longer I went with it since it’s my moms car and I’m not always available to help her if she gets stranded. So I’m hoping AGM lasts longer as many people report! Walmart had an H5 AGM EverStart Platinum with a 4 year warranty for $179 plus core deposit (which I will get back when I return old core with receipt, didn’t have it with me upon purchase). it is an AGM with 640CCA, with 100 reserve capacity. Much bigger than the car needs according to specs (390CCA original, upped to 590 CCA), but I feel specs are probably under listed since so many people have issues with the battery dying. That or electronics software drains battery more than they should. Either way I’m happy with extra capacity. the only problem is that the off gassing port is on the right side, not the left. AGMs do not off gas unless overcharged, according to what I read, so this should be a non-issue but I’d still like to extend the off gassing tube to make it extend to fit in the battery right side (stock is left). TLDR: bought H5 AGM at Walmart with 640 CCA and it works great. Fits without modifying tray. Only issue is off-gassing tube doesn’t reach port; I likely don’t need off-gassing with AGM but to be safe will make an a extension tube that fits.
  2. Anyone that can give any feedback on AGM versus standard wet cell? Id like to get this done tomorrow (Monday). I read AGM is better for electric/Hybrid. Thoughts?
  3. I’ve been reading these forums and Reddit while working on my moms Fusion Energi. is there any reason not to go with an AGM replacement battery? I don’t want the car to have continued battery issues. I need to replace the 12v Battery. It smells like rotten eggs (sulfur) in the garage and trunk of car. Her car wouldn’t start so I jumped it and assumed it was all good, but after the smell and research I decided she needed a new battery. her car is a 2017 Energí SE. Questions: -is it worth getting an AGM, or should I just get a wet cell and replace it more often? -what type of AGM do I need? I know it needs to be H5 and R for red in front. Are there different amperage h5 or different types or are all 12v H5 R the same? i am leaning towards the AGM but I don’t want to get the wrong specs and have new problems. I am torn between going to a shop and having them put in a regular battery ASAP or just getting an AGM and putting it in myself. the one thing I’m sure is the battery is shot since car needed a jump and it smells awful.
