About bobnfloyd

  1. I'm in a 2014 Ti, with 26k miles. I've been driving a 21.3 there and 21.5 back mile commute each way every day 4 days a week for a little over 2 years. 3 miles local and the rest freeway. Light traffic on the way in and heavier traffic on the way home. On the way in I use about 2 mile of gas, and on the way home about 1 mile of gas. In the electric car market, battery range is also YMMV (your mileage may vary). There is one bit of discrepancy I'd like to point out. Originally when our 2013 and 2014 cars were released, they had an estimate battery only range of 21. Last year, Ford sent out a mea culpa, and stated that they were using computer modeling to adjust the range based on similar drivetrains to the C-Max and the model was incorrect. Ford had to re-adjust our gas mileage and our expected battery range. This lead to a reduction from 21 to 19 miles. As others have said this obviously varies. At low speeds (say 35 mph) with AC off and light throttle on flat roads on a fair weather, I can get into the 26+ mpg in free flowing traffic. At freeway speeds with accelerating off of ramps and getting over to the carpool lane (California HOV lane), I only get 15-16 at 70-75 mpg. Header and AC reduce all numbers I've been saying roughly 10%. Especially cold days, I lose about 10%, and hot days, I lose about 5%. Remember, as the battery ages, it will lose capacity as well. Nissan was saying they were okay with their Leaf losing 20% of full capacity within 5 years and 25% of full capacity cumulative in 7 years (IIRC). Also remember, other than steady state of 35 mph, stop and go traffic with a very light breaking foot are the best ways to get the most mileage. One funny thing is that the car still uses the AC compressor when you have AC "off". You can only get vent air with no power for climate control when you put the it to "lo", and manually set the fan speed. Ford also does count regen in the mileage I think, so a good light braking foot helps. For you, my guess is, battery age, type of driving (traffic, high speed, high average speed etc), and ac or open windows (for drag at freeway speeds).
  2. I just had the 12V die on me twice. I didn't plug in for 1 day after charging at work. I wonder if a symptom of this is when my car would not register that it was unplugged due to some flakey chargers I have at work. I would keep getting the "is your car unplugged" warning, it won't reset until I get home and use my 120V Ford Charger. Got home, couldn't charge because a dumpster was in the way, woke up the next morning and had only enough power to unlock the doors. Jumped it at 5PM after work and drove it around for 20 minutes (car was in hybrid mode since I didn't have any more EV mode only battery left). After the jump and 20 minute drive, my MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light) or CEL (Check Engine Light) aka Idiot Light haha turned on. Let it sit for 2 hours, and the car was dead again as I tried to pack it at 7PM to go out of town. Dropped the car off, took them 1 week and a day to evaluate this, my headliner issue, my sync issue, and my steering column issue. Eventually they only fix my steering column issue. Dead 12V and MIL/CEL = No chaffing, couldn't reproduce the problem, even though the car died in their drive bay. Headliner = I have a crease in the headliner, they said they could fix it, but they might have to crease a new headliner to get it in and gut the car to do it... didn't want a rattle box so I let it as is. SYNC = My SYNC will randomly change volumes of from my setting of 5 as default to 2 or 3 (relatively). If I turn the volume up 1 and down 1, it will go back to a 5. I had a video which the people agree showed what I said, but they couldn't reproduce it so nothing was done. Steering Column = On hot days the steering wheel will rub against the two halves of the steering column cover/shroud. The actually found this to be true and ordered the part, still not installed, even though the car was with them for a week. =( This is a bit more fun than I had hoped.
  3. Hi Kim, Thank you for responding. I turned off the speed compensating volume several months ago because I thought this was the issue. I know that in the settings that there is a specific setting for both voice prompts and the radio. As an experiment I've made a specific effort to not change anything other than the radio volume and I get the symptoms described above. It's not so much a big issue as functionally it's usable, but I was hoping for a fix. I am using MyKey setups, but the other key isn't setup or used. My wife chooses not to drive my car. I'll probably call the IVT support number on my day off and see if they can troubleshoot me. Though, if the answer is another master reset I may have kittens. Putting in 30 favorite locations and setting up voice nametags takes hours. Thanks.
  4. Hi, I was wondering if anybody had a solution to my problem. My voice navigation, voice prompts, and radio consistently has issues with randomly changing relative volumes. For example. I nearly never change the volume of the radio, but the voice prompt and navigation will randomly (every couple of days) go very very soft (scale 1 to 10), a 2. I will then go into settings and move the setting from midway to +1 bar, at which point the volume goes back to a 5. I then can move the setting back to the original midpoint and the volume will be right and back to a 5, even though it used to be a 2. My wife and I and several co-workers have confirmed this happens so I know I'm not crazy. I've fought with this for months, and recently had to do a master reset (Friday the 13th) because all voice and navigation prompts disappeared after pushing the steering wheel button. It was happening from when the car was new, until the master reset, and after the master reset. Thank you in advance.
  5. I used a Day-Vue one as well and I really like it, somehow it doesn't seem to show the prints as much, even though I touch it just as often. Keeping dust off of it while applying it was tough. I used a glass (eye glasses) cleaner cloth, and a microfiber cloth, and a ton of flicking, wiping, blowing, etc to keep it clean until I made the final application. It takes a while, surprisingly a ton of particles flying around your car on any given day.
  6. So I might have spoken too soon, my VIN Number is now not being recognized in the app or the website any more, I contacted Kim and my regional customer service rep again to try to get it resolved again.
  7. I just wanted to come back and reply with the fact that my issue was resolved. What I heard was that the Database didn't get a input file with my VIN or possibly several sets of VINs, and therefore we couldn't sign up at My Ford Mobile. Kim, and a regional sales manager were able to get it resolved, and in 2 days, it worked. After they told me that the Database was updated, I went out to my car, pushed the start until I got a solid green, and then signed in with my now... memorized... VIN and I was able to complete the account registration + car syncing. 1 caveat was that my initial login had a whole bunch of x'd out options in one of the menus, I exited out, and then re-signed in and everything seems to be working fine.
  8. I really like the driving mechanics of this car, mechanical build quality is very good. The software interfaces seem to all be mostly useful, but sometimes frustrating. The fact that I can't get the My Ford Mobile to work after 2.5 weeks really does say something about what I should expect from future software updates on both the car and it's interfaces... basically slower, less responsive, and very little reaction to customer issues.
  9. So Kim has been very responsive and helpful in terms of status and information. I'm having the same issue with you both. My VIN starts with 3FA6P0S (the POS might have been a sign) and it's been 2.5 weeks since I bought my 41k+ car that I am now asked to do the following steps: 1) Pull fuse 10, wait 2 minutes, master reset, try to input into My Ford Mobile (MFM) VIN. 2) Pull fuse 10, wait 10 minutes, master reset, try to input into My Ford Mobile (MFM) VIN. 3) Pull fuse 10 and 15, wait 10 minutes, master reset, try to do My Ford Mobile (MFM) VIN. (from moderators in the forum's suggestion). 3a) All GPS History, Favorites, Sync Commands, Customization, Go Times, Ambient Lighting, Phone Syncing, Phonebooks, go poof when you do master reset, easily another hour to fix. 4) This morning, I deleted my account and re-added it a couple of times, also useless. Somehow I must have reinserted fuse 15 wrote and I ended up with a check engine light, had to remove and replace again. I really wanted to "fix my new car" as part of this experience. The interior's fuse box is a bit ridiculous and the fuses are a bit tough to pull (can't do with fingernails), had to do with a leatherman, don't drop fuses or little parts in there, it's a PITA to get. I've probably spent 10+ hours trying to resolve this issue. My dealership said I was tough out of luck (they actually said they would not call for me) and would need to call 1-800-392-FORD (3673) which has told me that they would get back to me in 5-10 business days, then 10-14 business days, then Ford customer service is escalating it to engineering (again) for another 10-14 business days. I'm a senior systems engineer at a huge defense contractor/manufacturer, if something is taking you 10 to 14 + 10 to 14 (aka 30 calendar days) business days, then something is truly wrong. We've identified and resolved bigger problems with anomalies with missiles and airplanes in 1 month. I think I'm going to give them until Friday before I call everyday, ask for a supervisor and start yelling at them until the problem is resolved (not really, but that's the level of frustration I'm feeling).
  10. I know that Kim is tracking what what's happening to my case, but I'm having the exact issue. I am also stuck at Step 1, with the system not even recognizing my VIN # or ESN. I really do like this car, but coming back to Ford after leaving for 10 years isn't starting out very good. Kim has been very responsive, but 1 week in with no feedback or response (From Ford not Kim) doesn't make me a very happy new car owner.
  11. Yup, Kim has been very responsive. Hope this gets solved soon, I'm excited about about this car getting set up.
  12. I'm having a problem with the (message verbatim below). I bought the car on Saturday and I've had no luck with either the VIN or ESN. Calling the number, they confirmed that I'm putting the correct VIN and ESN. I've sent you a private message with my VIN and ESN, but I could really use the help. The VIN or ESN entered is either incorrect, not compatible with MyFord Mobile, or not registered in our system. Please check your entry and try again. If you are having trouble, contact Ford’s In-Vehicle Technology Center at 1-800-392-FORD (3673).
