  1. I'm pleased to report that I received my 2nd key/remote/fob via UPS delivery on Friday. I took my car into one of the LOCAL dealerships today (not the dealership where I bought the car) and they reprogrammed both of my keys/remotes/fobs. They charged me for one-hour labor for the reprogramming, because technically it wasn't a warranty repair issue, but rather a dealership sales problem. I did some internet research to determine which dealership had the best track record in the service department, so I wanted to try them out. I made an appointment and they had me in and out in under 45 minutes, so they have earned my business now for my routine maintenance. I then received a phone call this afternoon from the Ford Regional Customer Service Representative who offered me alternative compensation worth more than the $105 since I had to pay out-of-pocket for the reprogramming of the key, so Ford Corporate made everything all right in my view. Ford corporate can't fix all the problems happening at the dealerships, but they stay on top of making sure that things get resolved, so I really appreciate that they take care of customer concerns. I'm really happy with Ford and the way they stand behind their products. My husband and I really love our new car. Thanks for everyone's help with this and for pointing me to Ashley who got the Ford regional customer service rep involved! I am beginning to really appreciate the benefits of social media and trule appreciate everyone who takes the time to read the posts and respond to one another. This helped to get things resolved a lot more quickly and more easily.
  2. I had the opposite problem with my 2006 VW Passat. Couldn't turn OFF the DRL automatically. Everytime you started the engine, the DRL turned on. It is perfectly legal in California to have Daytime Running Lights turned on during the daytime. DRL are a standard feature on my 2006 VW Passat and there isn't any way to turn the DRL off automatically which really annoyed us at first. Could be illegal for the dealership to modify standard mfg equipment, because we tried to get the VW dealership to turn off the DRL automatically and we were told they couldn't modify standard mfg equipment. On my old Passat, we had to manually turn the switch everytime we started the car to turn OFF the DRL, so we just got used to driving with them on and people sometimes flashing their lights at us thinking that we shouldn't have the lights turned on during the day.
  3. Feel free to go to TrueCar.com and compare prices for what others in your geographic region are paying. You need to give them an email address in order to get access and they will email you with the results of cars that match your ideal. They will spam you with lots of car offers, but just create a freebie email account first like through gmail or hotmail for the purposes of getting your quotes and then delete the email account later. You can see what other people have paid for the exact same options and see the MSRP on the car. Just read the "savings certificate" they send you carefully, because the "savings" usually includes the amount of any Manufacturer Rebate, so the real savings is the difference between the MSRP and the total price minus the Mfg Rebate (which you would have gotten anyway regardless of where you go to buy the car). You can buy through TrueCar with Allstate if you have Allstate insurance, with American Express if you have an AmEx card, or directly through the TrueCar website.
  4. Wow! Thanks so much Kybuck. I appreciate the tip! I found the Flood Ford ESP website and depending on the specific policy, their prices are significantly less--anywhere from $200 to $700 less expensive for the same policy.
  5. Congratulations on finding such a great deal! Awesome. :) We bought our FFE new about 3 weeks ago and can't believe the features and comfort of this car! Just love it! So far we are averaging between 44 and 48 mpg on the hybrid engine for our longer trips, but still learning how to use this car and how to drive it efficiently. I can do all my around town errands completely on the electric battery which is amazing. This is our first venture into the new technology.
  6. Bought my 2014 FFE Titanium fully loaded through American Express TrueCar (available to all American Express cardholders for free). Program requires that you use your AmEx card for at least $2K of the downpayment, but just go home after your purchase and pay the $2K to your AmEx card so it is same as putting down cash downpayment. Search for American Express Car Buying and you'll find the American Express True Car website. Price is negotiated up front over the internet as a fleet sale purchase, and you are able to see the price before you buy. If they don't have the model, color and the features you want, you can look on the internet through the dealership's inventory online on their website, find the car you want, and ask for pricing based on a particular VIN. You can also get prices from up to 3 dealerships in your area. Get their offer to you in an email for a particular VIN (that keeps them honest). If when you show up for your appointment, the dealership tells you that the VIN you want has been sold or is no longer available, just leave and go to another dealership, because the price is only locked in for that particular VIN and they are just trying to get more money out of you. If you purchase through this program and have any problems, call American Express TrueCar and file a complaint as AmEx wants to keep their customers happy and they only keep dealerships qualified who follow the program rules and provide good customer service. Here are the details of what I paid through American Express TrueCar. I live in California: 2014 Ford Fusion Energi with Driver Assist package, Navigation System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Heated/Cooled Driver/Pass Seats, Active Park Assist, Heated Steering Wheel. Sticker: MSRP $40,940 Destination & Delivery $825 Total MSRP $41,765 What I paid: Base $39,125 Minus Mfg Rebate - 1,000 Total Price $38,125 plus CA sales tax, license, fees Total Price $42,577 So total savings using AmEx True Car was about $2,640 plus the $1,000 Ford Mfg Rebate = savings of $3,640

The dealerships are "living in the old days" thinking they can try to pull a fast one over on people--and all that will result is very unhappy customers who are going to tell lots of other folks to stay away from them. I won't be sending anyone to this dealership--and instead will send them to somewhere else if they want to buy this car. FYI. The same dealership sold me an Extended Warranty that is through a third party and represented it as a Ford product. They also sold me a Ford Service Plan and charged me $700 more than the price listed on the Ford website. I started a new post under this topic so that other people can easily find this information and look it up on the Ford website before they go to the dealership. When I spoke with the Ford Regional Customer Service representative, she gave me the link to the official Ford website at owner.ford.com and I went and looked up the price for the coverages the dealership sold to me. The dealership charged me $700 more for the exact same Ford Service Plan, and $670 more for identical coverage for the non-Ford Extended Warranty than for the Ford Extended Warranty product. I read the fine print and the policies are completely cancellable within 30 days of purchase, but the dealership has been playing games with me in trying to avoid having to cancel them. The dealership also sold me the single most expensive policies making it sound like my only choices were almost no coverage or total coverage for 7 years with nothing in between--which isn't the case at all. I didn't know you could obtain the price of the policies easily on-line on the Ford website, so want to let other folks know before they go buy their car so no one else gets taken. Apparently, the dealership can charge any amount they want for these policies, so good to know about the Ford website before you go to the dealership. So, just by knowing my rights, I have saved myself a minimum of $1,370 even if I cancel the policies and turn right around and re-purchase the exact same plans directly through Ford Corporate. Hope this benefits others!
  8. So that no one else makes the same mistakes that we did, BEFORE you go to the dealership, go to the Ford official website at owner.ford.com and click on the Warranty and Service Plan button. The Ford website will walk you through the various extended warranty products and service plans that are available to purchase through Ford and give you the current pricing for the policy. If you are interested in purchasing an extended warranty or service plan, know that you do NOT have to purchase it at the same time as you purchase your car. The only advantage of purchasing it when you buy the car is being able to finance it on the same contract through Ford Motor Credit. I would recommend that you print out and know the price of the policies you are considering and take them with you to make sure that the dealership doesn't overcharge you. When I purchased my vehicle, the Ford dealership sold me an Extended Warranty and represented it as a Ford product. The policy the dealership sold me is NOT a Ford product, but rather through a third party and the fine print requires me to only take my car back to this particular dealership. A policy with the identical coverage purchased directly through Ford on their website is $670 less than the policy the dealership sold me. The Ford dealership also sold me a Ford Extended Service Plan, but the price I was charged for the coverage is $700 more than the price listed on the Ford website. The Ford dealership also sold me a GAP insurance policy for $795 for a 5-year policy. GAP insurance is coverage that will pay for the "gap" or difference between your current loan amount and the amount that your insurance company will pay in the event that your car is totalled in an accident. I was able to purchase an identical policy through my auto insurance company (Allstate) for only $26 a year ($26 x 5 = $130 total as compared to the $795). My Allstate agent also said that you typically only really need GAP insurance for the first year that you own the car, and it is much easier to just call up your agent on your annual renewal date and have the GAP coverage removed, because you really don't need it after the first year thereby paying only for the 1st year coverage. It is easy to add or remove coverage through your personal insurance agent. It is difficult to remove coverage through anyone else. In California there is a 30-day cancellation clause that allows you to cancel these policies and have the entire amount refunded to the lien holder, but the dealership will try to make it very difficult for you. I don't know about the cancellation rule in other states. All of my policies also indicated that they can be cancelled at any time and the remaining policy amount will be pro-rated. I sent a certified letter (which is legal proof of service) to the dealership and they refused to sign for the letter. I then sent a USPS Priority Mail letter with proof of delivery (which is not legal proof of service) and the dealership still failed to respond. I then had to do some research to find the name of the parent corporation for the dealership (found it on the BBB website) since they are a dba (doing business as) and then send a letter to the legal proof of service address listed to the parent corporation listed on the State of California Secretary of State website in order to get them to cancel the policies.

  11. If you live in California, here are some useful websites for rebate information. I have omitted the preceding 3 Ws as the forum doesn't allow posting of weblinks. If you can't find the website, just google the titles listed and you'll find the website. I'm posting this information, because the salesperson at the dealership didn't know any of this information, couldn't answer any of my questions in regards to tax credits and rebates, and I had to research it all on my own after I bought the car. I also didn't see this posted on the forum, so thought it might be useful to others: 1) Drive Clean California driveclean.ca.gov Use this website to search for incentives in California State-wide based on your zip code 2 ) San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District - click on "grants and incentives" - then "residents" valleyair.org/grants/driveclean.htm Fusion Energi was still eligible for $2,000 rebate as of 6/09/2014 IF you live within San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (which is the following counties: Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Merced, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Tulare) These rebates will go away once grant funds are exhausted. You need to submit a copy of your purchase contract, VIN, complete their paperwork and plan to keep the vehicle for at least 36 months. Read the fine print to make sure you qualify. You also have to complete and submit a W-9 Form as the rebate/incentive you receive may taxable income and subject to federal and state tax. They told me that these take about one month to process after you submit your paperwork before you receive a check in the mail. 3) California Center for Sustainable Energy energycenter.org/clean-vehicle-rebate-project Fusion Energi was still eligible for $1,500 rebate as of 6/09/2014 These rebates will go away once grant funds are exhausted. You need to submit a copy of your purchase contract, VIN, complete their paperwork and plan to keep the vehicle for at least 36 months. Read the fine print to make sure you qualify. They told me that these take about five to six months to process after you submit your paperwork before you receive a check in the mail. 4) PG&E pge.com/pev/ How to get discounted electric rates and/or special tiered pricing if you have an EV vehicle.
  12. I brought my car home from the dealership a couple of weeks ago and they only gave me a single key/remote control. I questioned the single key/remote control and was told by the salesperson that a second key/remote control would be mailed to me within a week and that it had to be ordered from the factory. I read all the fine print in my contract and it says there are "no verbal agreements". I didn't get anything in writing that they owed me a second key/remote control. Now, I can't get the dealership to even call me back. I've never bought a car before where I didn't walk off the lot with two keys. Did everyone else's car come with TWO keys/remote control or only ONE? Anyone know what the cost is if I have to order a second one? Thanks for your help!
