Jim Schmidt Posted November 27, 2023 at 07:17 PM Report Share Posted November 27, 2023 at 07:17 PM Vehicle has reoccurring incident where car is completely dead, even after daily use and overnight charging. First two times to dealer they replaced 12 volt battery. Third time to dealer they replaced a part to the radio that they found was leaking charge. Now back again after 3 more dead vehicle. When trying to jump start I only need to create a connection and vehicle comes to life. No extended charging needed. 12 volt battery tests good. Any advice? jsamp Posted November 28, 2023 at 06:14 AM Report Share Posted November 28, 2023 at 06:14 AM 2017's are notorious for battery drain issues. I think a software update finally fixed that. Search these forums to see if you can find a thread on the topic. Also ask the dealer if there are any recalls or STB's about 12V drain issues. The reason you only need to create a connection is that once you do, the HV battery (which has plenty of charge) powers the DC-DC converter to give the car full 12V power. Then it uses the HV battery to start the motor.
gerry Posted January 17, 2024 at 09:37 PM Report Share Posted January 17, 2024 at 09:37 PM I have a 2016 Energi that is draining the 12 v battery overnight. Battery is new, and if disconnected does not drain down. I understand that a software update has been helpful. Any successes? I have eliminated most bulb or switch issues that might drain it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
