About Peter Kiener

  1. Just passed 1000 miles at more than 500 mpg so have used just less than 2 gallons of the first (dealer-filled) fuel tank I have now developed the annoying habit (according to my wife) of seeking out an outlet in whatever place we park. Most of my driving is local with the longest single trips being 35 miles or so. Will put the car to test when I drive from DC to Newark NJ in a couple of weeks. Obviously going to bring the mpg way down from 525 still very much like the car. Very comfortable
  2. spoiler and wing king ($91.90 including shipping). Came very well protected and with instructions. I spend a lot of time measuring and getting the masking tape in place and measuring again ( put immediately above where the side moldings would be) Made sure that the line of the masking tape looked good on both sides and then took the plunge. My daughter helped me so that we could get the blunt end attached first and then line up the rest; would have been more difficult with only one pair of hands
  3. one more with the whole side of the car this time
  4. just installed my mud flaps and body side moldings; I think looks good. However not sure how to include a picture here if someone can coach a neophyte/idiot in how to include the photo (jpeg format), happy to do so
  5. howardbc I am in a similar status/state of mind; had my car 10 days , put on about 200 miles, all but 12 miles have been EV. I have got to like the "sound" or lack thereof of the EV drive so much that I hate it when the ICE kicks in. The first time though I was pleased about the smooth/seamless transition, I only really detected it by looking at the gauges I too would really like a PHEV that about 50-70 miles of range with the ICE back up
  6. Have either of you received and installed the side moldings? how do they look atnd can you post a picture? thanks
  7. Correct on the charger itself just a push of a button for those like me who may be somewhat mentally challanged when it comes to down loading and using apps
  8. thanks I think In knew that but also it is ahead on my learning curve. I have to get that set up this weekend
  9. I know most folks are likely to go with the Levitron (ford) charger I just wanted to post that the Siemans Versicharge (L2) works very well and easily with the NRG I got the one with a plug so I could take it with me if I move. It is very easy to connect up to the car and the thing I like most, the EVSE has a dummy proof ( for me!!) delay offset for charging so you can set and for later (cheaper rates) and forget it. The only thing I do not like is it does "buzz" a bit even when not actually charging; this makes me think I am just wasting some level of power. Fortunately, when I got it installed I also had the elctrician install a wall switch by it so most of the time it is completely off
  10. I may have posted in the wrong place, sorry. See my comments as a reply under EV range
  11. my first real drive in a word superb Home to National airport DC 26.5 miles. Stop and go traffic on the GW parkway ( so lots of opportunity for regeneration compared to all the ICE drivers who just burned gas) All EV and arrived at the Chargepoint in the airpoint parking lot with the gauge reading 2 miles to go. I am truly and very happily amazed
  12. I picked up my new Energi this afternoon. I drove home (12 miles) and did not use a drop of gas!!! I love it. Will charge it over night on my new charger and then do more electric miles tomorrow To me all the different modes and settings on this car are a bit overwhelming at the moment but I am sure I will figure them out very shortly Bottom line very happy. Also got $1500 incentive and $750 (coupon in the brochure) from ford so also pretty happy about that I really really like the bordeaux red color, the brochure or pictures do not do it justice in the sunlight
  13. Planning to pick up my Bordeaux Energi Ti tomorrow ( if they get it ready in time) I just want to plug in in and watch it charge. It is a superb color
  14. you are correct posted on MD DMV website "Effective March 16, 2013, the Excise Tax Credit for the purchase of Plug in Electric Vehicles will no longer be available when submitting a titling request to the MVA. The Strategic Energy Investment Fund allotted for this fiscal year has been exhausted. However, purchasers of Plug-in Electric Vehicles may continue to request HOV Permits."
