  1. Congratulations; I hope you enjoy your new ride!
  2. Another reason to like our cars is that they are really good drivers! I have not hit the average gas mileage that some of you have, but that is because I make longer trips about once a week to some hobby shops and a toy train museum that I am involved with. Today the wife and I took a 190 mile round trip involving very narrow and curvy country roads. While no sports car, the Fusion still carved these roads like my last favorite car, a 2003 BMW 525i. We still averaged over 47 miles per gallon on this round trip, and I was not light footing it! Steve, welcome to the forum and enjoy the drive!
  3. Dear Murphy; Thank you for the advice. I changed some of the settings on my phone and was able to send the information successfully!
  4. Dear Kim; Welcome to this web site. I appreciate your taking the time to look into My Ford Sync problems for us. I have one question at present. I purchased a brand new 2013 Ford Fusion Energi SE on January 4 which had the latest software upgrades performed at the dealer prior to my taking delivery of the car. The problem is that at SYNCMYRIDE.COM the web site states that the car still needs a software update. I phoned Ford and was told how to notify Ford of the update by running a vehicle health report through my cell phone and thus reporting the update to Ford and ultimately to SYNCMYRIDE.COM. I have tried to do this several times, with the cell phone trying to place a call to the number 888 796 2864. Every time I have tried this the call fails to go through. Has Ford changed the number or are there specific times when the number is not available? If the number has changed how do I get the software in my car to call the new number? Thank you in advance for any help you can give me! carnut56
  5. I just bought my 2013 Ford Fusion a week ago and am still getting used to the silence in all electric mode with a shiftless transmission. I agree with the others here that this salesman was ignorant, and you may wish to find a Ford Dealer that is certified by Ford to sell electric vehicles, as not all dealerships meet the criteria. I suspect your dealership is in that category. My advice to you is to find a 2013 if possible, as the 2014 is the same car, and the 2013 has some heavy discounts and rebates available if you know what you are doing. With the discounts, rebates, and Federal and State Tax credits here in California, the net purchase price for my 2013 Energi SE will be about $26,000.00, which makes the financial equation versus a conventional Fusion much more palatable. I see the same positive and negative attributes as others here, and my advice is also to go for it! (To qualify for the State of California $1,500.00 credit Ford has to guarantee the battery for 10 years and 150,000 miles. Ford would not do this if they weren't very certain that the battery would hold up this long.) As for the styling, to quote Car & Driver magazine, "Mr. Bond, we have found your rental car!"
  6. We all now know that Ford has lowered the price on the 2014 Energis $4,000.00 possibly in response to Chevrolet's lowering the price on the Volt. This knowledge helped me get a super deal on my just purchased 2013 Fusion Energi. I appreciate the information about the dealer having to be certified to sell and service Ford's EV cars. Here in green Northern California, I think most of the dealers are certified for this technology.
  7. I love it! This is taking the idea of "hot rodding" to a completely different level.
  8. I joined after purchasing a 2013 Ford Fusion Energi when the local Ford Dealer in Pittsburg, California made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I traded in a 2012 Hyundai 3.8 sedan which actually was an excellent car, but my New Year's Resolution was to pay as little as possible to the oil companies and the Fusion Energi seemed to be the most cost effective way to do this. The discounts, Ford rebates, and government rebates even out the depreciation hit on the Genesis, and that is what made this move doable. The wife is a green car enthusiast, having purchased a Kia Optima Hybrid two years earlier, and IMHO the Optima and Fusion are the two best looking mid size sedans available. I will miss the 333 horsepower of the Genesis, but the Fusion drives a little sportier and hopefully I will catch the enthusiasm of others here to be as energy efficient with the Fusion as possible. I have owned many cars during the course of my soon to be 66 years, including two BMWs, a 1997 Lincoln Mark VII LSC, a 1993 Nissan 300ZX, a Mazda RX-7, and horror of horrors, a 1981 Chevrolet Citation X-11. From 1985 to 1990 I sold new Ford products for a living as a fleet manager, and am now a retired State of California Investigator for the Department of Consumer Affairs. Reading this forum helped make my mind up to buy the 2013 Fusion Energi that is now charging for my use tomorrow. I will close in quoting Car and Driver's response to the styling of our cars: "Mr. Bond, we have found your rental car!"
